I'm sure people try hard for the most part, and there are lots of MR members who speak English as a second language. At the end if the day, this is a reef forum, meant for people to relax and learn about reefs.

This thread wasn't meant to offend or single anyone out. Just me venting. It can be frustrating having to read a post a few times just to make sure it was read correctly. That's all.

It's not only spelling its also the lack of proper use of punctuation to signify the end of one sentence and the beginning of another one certain people dont care enough to proofread what they write before posting it and will say 15 statements without a single period or additional paragraph nor do they care enough to go back and fix it or do they just not know what the heck they type looks like and how annoying it is to read especially when they try to be the one that gives reefing advice yet they cant type at anything higher than a 3rd grade level but are expecting people to take what they say serious and to comprehend the jibbrish that they believe is proper english and will argue when you point out they look like a moron how they post

I'm fat. Make fun of me I don't care. I can change that just like people can change their lazy, non proof reading way of posting.

It needs to be said because if someone is asking a question, sometimes the post is so illegible you have to read it 7 times to understand what they're asking when some simple spelling corrections would have made the post easy to completely comprehend.

Yes, strange analogy. As we're all in a forum and communicating via type I get the context of a comment on bad grammar.

The context of a person's weight in the same conversation escapes me.

Can you post the thread where you had to read 7 or 8 times to understand what they were asking? 6 years on this site and i think i saw 1 thread i couldnt understand but thats because english was not the OP first language.

It needs to be said because if someone is asking a question, sometimes the post is so illegible you have to read it 7 times to understand what they're asking when some simple spelling corrections would have made the post easy to completely comprehend.

I personally have not come accross one like that, that I could not figure out and read.

Ok laziness is one thing i give you that, but to make fun of someone because they can't spell comes across as bulling in my eyes.

Yeah I've seen a couple of threads like that in the time I've been a member here. You can usually tell when it's a case of English being a second language and just not caring. If its just that they are still learning the language and so on I would never expect anywhere near perfect posts, but if it's just laziness it's annoying.

Folks not only make fun of fat and short folks, they also tag them as less than what they are. Many folks do it all the time. It's terrible, but the way of many, unfortunately.

It's a challenge to teach your kids not to be this way when others kids and even some parents do the same thing.

On the lighter side of life, things like this are funny when it's done with no malice, which I see here.

No its a claim that someone has to read a post 7 or 8 times to understand what a person is trying to say. I want to see a post where it is so outrageously bad it takes to read it that many times. Or is it one or 2 words that someone messes up and they are over exaggerating the 7 or 8 times they needed to re-read the post? People mess up its natural.People use there phone and mess up its normal. No need to point it out if you get the idea of what someone is writing why have this thread. Not everyone here is a academic scholar or a professor this is a reef hobby site not a scientific paper getting handed into National Geographic. If it bothers people so much when you see a bad thread or post skip it. Seriously who is the spelling bee state champ on here. I know i get confused on some words and dont need a member on here fixing my mistakes or calling me out in front of thousands of people.
