So you're a mind reader. How do you know what he meant? So you think laziness is contagious? Most people here type relatively well, so why is that not contagious? I think most who know better do better and a small persentage know better but don't care...

when someone doesn't understand the contextual way some of these words are used, it's pretty apparent. Broken English is one thing, this is something different. The examples are pretty clear I think.
Example: MINES - how many of you are there?
The word SINCE is not spelled SINS. <---these words are spelled AND pronounced differently.
Put together in an entire thread, with capitalization in completely inappropriate places, horrible punctuation...yes, its obvious.

It's no secret that the kids of today are much lazier than the kids of yesterday. Illiteracy is a problem as well due to high dropout rates. So yes, it does seem to be contagious.
Bottom line is, you can't tell me that people don't run into these words while reading and doing research online, in a book...somewhere. At that point it is just laziness.
Would spelling like this be acceptable on a job resume? NO.

I don't get the spelling and punctuation honestly. My iPad and iPhone correct my typing all the time (because capacitive touch screens drive me crazy :lol2
. Most web browsers underline miss-spelled words as well.Quite and quiet annoy me though. "My skimmer is very quite". No. No, it's not. That makes ZERO sense.
I'm sure people try hard for the most part, and there are lots of MR members who speak English as a second language. At the end if the day, this is a reef forum, meant for people to relax and learn about reefs.

Who cares there is no one grading our grammar on here and we are not handing in a document for our bosses to read. If you get the what the poster is trying to say who cares. I know if a friend of mine corrects my grammar i want to punch him in the face LMAO. Does it really matter on a hobby site? Almost everyone here writes LMAO but its not a word do we need to correct that as well? If it bothers people so much stop writing it and write out the whole sentence "Laugh my arse off" Hows that.
