My one piece if advice, don't go to a pet store..go breeder, or better yet, rescue. Pet stores sell puppy mill dogs with tons of problems and usually, fake papers.

If you want breeders, check out puppyfind.com.

Lol, a teacup yorkie man? Thank god there's wee wee pads and mobile grooming companies. I couldn't possibly be seen with one of those things. My girl tried pulling that on me a few years back. We now have a 90 lb lab! Lol

the chances of getting a "toy" yorkie at a rescue is close to impossible when they run for 2-6 grand. I fully support rescues though and plan on it when I move out and can get a rotti like I really want!

right now I have two Peagles. Beagle-pekingese mix. Yogi bear and Bella. The most loving and obedient animals I have ever had. They live to please.

Do NOT go to a petstore....1 to especially avoid is Puppy boutique in brooklyn we got 3 dogs from there and every single dog was something wrong with it 1 dog we bought there didnt have papers we were told she was a maltese - we had blood work done on her shes a mutt. dog #2 had a genetic defect dog #3 was pooping blood after 3 days of us having it, long story short they took the dog back and we sued them in small claims court.

We just purchased my mom a dog (dog #2 with the genetic defect died a few months ago at age 7) so i have lots of yorkie breeder info but just as a heads up these dogs are pricy like 1200+ the smaller the more $$$, also might want to thing of the future if you see yourself having kids with her a 2lb dog wont do so good with little kids kicking and stepping on them so you might want to get a "larger" one (by that i mean like 5lbs lol) if you want the breeders i have shoot me a pm

We made the same mistake with puppy boutique, we bought a little female long haired chihuahua, 5 years later she had bad teeth, arthritis, hair loss and eventually died from an infection in her apparently "twisted" uterus that the vet somehow missed(old vet). Puppy mill dogs either go downhill fast, or live in pain and deteriorate slowly.

First time I was ever devastated losing a dog, and the first time I saw my late father cry. Now...we have 6  all from breeders and all 100% healthy.

I got both of my Yorkies from a breeder, well two different breeders. But this is not even a guarantee as pet stores get their dogs from some of the same breeders. You need to actually go to the breeder and check everything out, male sure they allow you to see both parents of the puppy and that they are in good health. And yes Yorkies are expensive, expecially the tea cups, do not buy any Yorkies with white hair in any amount.

Awww man that's funny I'm looking for a the same dog and have been scared because of all the horror stories. It's for my daughter and I'd hate for her to get attached and then something happen to her puppy. Good luck and let me know what u find ill do the same if I find a good breeder.

yorkies are over rated. Its not the dog its personallity you want. Try visiting the dogs and pick what you like not what looks cute. IMO Get the GF a diamond and a pup you like, im sure she will be just as happy.

You prob will still save money!!... lol Fish and coral money!!

I don't think Yorkies are over rated, I have two and I have had several different dogs over the years growing up including mutts, golden retrievers, German shepards, dobermans, and I have a Great Dane right now with my Yorkies and another small mutt. The one Yorkie has more personality than any other dog I have ever had. On the other hand the other Yorkie has no personality, it just sleeps and eats.

They are both males, but the bigger one is lazy lol. The smaller one is roughly 4-1/2 lbs and is 6 years old. The other one is also 6 but almost 10lbs. They are from different parents.

Good story's this all helps. To clear some questions I'm buying the dog for her and its going to her home with a small Maltese that her family has.

The breeder I'm speaking to does not Guarantee the size or the dogs as adults and we want one that won't get over 4-5 pounds

I see some boutique style places that sell "micro" yorkies but 1) they are over 5grand and 2) they only get 2-3 pounds which seems sickly
