There are a lot of health problems with the micros, they seem to only make it to about 2-3 years and that's it. There are exceptions obviously, but I wouldn't take the chance. Think about it, they bred runt after runt to get those micros. Well the runt is usually the weakest and least healthiest to begin with.

Keep one thing in mind: all of those mini, petite, or micro sized dogs come with an array of associated health risks. Its counter-intuitive to nature to line breed the smallest pups with each other. I hope you're ready to foot some potential expensive vet bills.

(APBT guy here :) )

Yorkies are overrated. You want this - A Pomeranian with an awesome haircut. Add a mohawk and done.

Also, sorry to hijack the thread but my parents are looking for a great home for a 5 month old Pomeranian/Maltese mix male. Has paperwork and was from a reputable breeder. The old owners weren't taking care of him, he was a little skinny and their kids were on the brink of ripping him to pieces. All white and extremely playful. Just waiting on a family friend to say yes or no. PM me if interested.

Im not looking for a micro, I really couldnt handle that responsibility or pay the vet bills. It seems idiotic to have a dog that will likely have a short and sudden life. It was way to painful when my pure bred blue tip beagle passed away.

Yorkies in the 4-5 pound range seem to be hardy and reef safe. not for nothing a micro yorkie could swim around a 300gal display like hes on vacation

@Bry cute pup! how big and old is he?

Years ago I bought my wife (at the time she was my girlfriend) two yorkies. I was told they would be under 6 pounds. One of them stayed small but my other one is much larger (12 pounds). Its a hit or miss on sizes. Most breeders like to bullshit to make a sale. Both like to bark a lot but otherwise a great family dog.
