Abuse of power

Upset sunrise highway Hess Rockville centre. We been there all morning they said all city workers and hospital workers one line. The public servant workers reach which is the police after the station gets filled up with fuel then they buddy's show up family show up then they come to us on the emergency service line for city workers and hospital and tell us we have to go around the corner and join the regular line as everyone else. They buddy's and fam take our line. Is this what we pay taxes for. No respect for the people that pay there bills. Just had to let it out.

Public safety comes first. They need to be where the looters,thieves,gas syphoners and the hospital workers need to be at the hospital to save people. And if you were sick or a family member was sick and no one was there to help you because they couldnt get there or if someone was stealing your valuables and it to to much time for the police to show up because not enough police officers can get gas you would complain about that. Its a crisis and others are more important thats the way it is. You need to wait in line like every other civilian and thats the way it goes. By the way im not a civil sevant or work in the medical field i just know im not as important to the community as the other folks

How do you know none of them qualified? If they are volunteer firefighters, career firefighters, cops, emt's, or hospital workers it is what it is. If you feel it's abuse of power that's on you. Remember especially for cops, career and volunteer firefighters,emt's and hospital people they are the ones saving lives everyday so I'll have to say deal with it.

I was FDNY for 11 years and am still a member of my volunteer department. I don't respond to emergencies anymore so I haven't used my credentials once since the storm even though I could and I have a handful of friends that don't use theirs to get ahead of the line either because there in the same situation as I am.

So please before you rant keep in mind the guy using his badge to get to the beginning of the line just may be the one that comes to your aid of and when you have to call.

Putting your life on the line to save the lives of strangers SHOULD have these types of perks in times like this.

I am Wow'd by this thread how someone who posts something like this with no real proof. I wonder did you say hey Police Officer is that a friend or another cop? Maybe you heard him say hey honey bring the car to get gas? Maybe the car she had is his car? To many maybes. Maybe you should be happy when you was in your home taking care of your family and your house some of them had to go to work and leave there families home and leave there house to this disaster. Be happy there are men and woman out there that every day with out the blink of an eye will gladly lay down there lives to protect us. Think of cops like Peter Figoski or Artie Lopez who while doing there job didnt come home to there kids. Think like that and then again please say to yourself is it worth the post my MAYBE Though!!!! I am disgusted by how ppl talk about the police. Maybe once in awhile you should say Thank you for coming to work and protecting ppl who need protecting. The problem lies with a saying I heard once. You never lived life until you've almost died. For those who fight for it. Life has a flavor the protected will never know"

Lol, everybody is a hero today. We all make decisions what job we take. If your job endangers you or your family, who's fault is that? You chose this career. Soldiers are heroes: the rest of you are nothing more than people who chose their jobs, be dangerous or not! In my eyes, NO ONE is more important then the next guy, NO ONE. Get off your high horses. If i'm in need of a police officer, fireman, postal worker etc...you come to me cause its your JOB and nothing more. Everybody is special, hero, but the truth is we are all replaceable...This is coming from a man who had to work all through the storm away from my family. Let me make this clear, i'm no HERO for doing my duties...just a man doing his job...

HAHAHA you just said they chose there job but soldiers are heroes. Did they not choose to be in the military? And what is your point here? Yes people are important that is why we needed our cops,fireman,sanitation and the men and woman driving the ambulences to have gas FIRST to save people. Not to waste gas so all you folks that decided to go shopping or visit your friends houses at a time of a gas shortage. Nothing you said here makes any sense and contradicts itself in each sentence LOL not being mean or starting any trouble just explaining

Can I ask what you do for a living??

I also agree that soldiers are heroes, but as Duke said they CHOSE their career. There is no mandatory draft..... Everyone has their job, a Police Officer, or Fireman, or Nurse, Doctor, Volunteer Ambulance or Fire. They have jobs that are a little different.

How the hell do you figure a postal worker in there?? I am not saying that it is a good job or important? But if it wasn't for junk mail i would not get any mail. No offense to any postal workers out there, but IMO they do not raise to the same as First Responders.

Wow I cant believe you could say something like that. So I guess joining the military mean. The Person who jumped on a grenade to save he fellow soldiers is not a True hero, or the fire fighter who enters the world trade center knowing he will never come out but does it with the hope of saving ppl, he is not a true hero, or the cop who dies saving a life I guess he also is not a true hero. All these ppl took this job to give there lives up is what you are saying. Wow because you have no real heart or that you a a coward dont take away what those ppl did. I would love to see what you would do when put in a situation where your life could end? I am talking from experience as I served active duty in the Marines and seen ppl do things most would run from, and now I am a Police officer and again seen on a day to day things that most ppl will never consider doing. Shame on you for talking like that, I hope you raise your kids better!!!!
