just spoke to awilda through texting. she is in the rockaways. she had some damage to the house/foundation. there is no power and NO HEAT. her boiler may have been damaged from being under saltwater flood. it had been very cold at nights and it doesn't look like she will get any power back any time soon.

anyone who has gotten their power back and able to loan her a generator AND GAS to run it plus a plug in ceramic heater, please contact me via pm or my cell 646_752*3966. she has no internet to log on here and her cell signal is sporadic.
i can put you in contact with her via her cell. i myself am in jersey and have no power....just a small generator to run the essentials. don't have any way of helping her with the heat situation except for putting out words and pray that someone can help.

please help awilda stay warm!!!!!

good news. richie (rkaragozler) from staten island found her a loaner generator from someone. i dug up a plug in ceramic heater and a 50' extension cord. we're going to drop them off tomorrow.

we could use some gas and gas can to run/store extra fuel for the generator.

Tom,
If you are going into the Rockaways, please also contact Jarett, I think he also may need help from his thread plus state of the area.

umm.....i search the user name Jarett and came up with nothing. only one i found is Jarrett in bethpage, long island... not in the rockaways. plus it seems he got some help coming his way already.

awilda has no heat and SHE is very cold. i'm sorry if this comes out insensitive towards others who are fighting for their animal friends (as i also am) but we're talking about a person here.....

Not at all, I have been trying to organise help for awilda much earlier but unable to get gas to go there. I know she needs to handle the heat issue.

I am going to the Hess on Main st, and see if they have gas cans, if so I will shop a little for awilda because I was told they got delivery. If you know anyone who is going to awilda or her area, you can tell them to get gas in that station now. Keep our finger crossed.

Just come back from the Main street Hess station: the last tanker left after unloading the gas. The line is at least 3 blocks or more(I cannot see the end). Not sure how many cars, that tanker can fill. I cannot get gas can either until tomorrow they say.

Just a little tidbit of info for Wingo and everyone else. The tankers deliver 12,000 gallons and the stations at most are letting each person get 20 gallons so if you see the truck delivering and the line is less than 600 cars and people with cans you'll be able to get gas.

Tom. I have 2 5 gallon cans if you need but I dont have enough gas in my vehicles to deliver them to queens.

i was at awi around 1:30 pm. richie was already there with the power inverter. we set up the generator and leak test it while we had some lunch (i had one that leaked fuel so i suggested testing it). after lunch, richie got the generator up and running with all the wires and stuff. the ceramic heater was working well....it was 57 degree in the house.
i had to leave to get back to the office. so richie was left holding the fort.....waiting to meet with prattreef's contact, Terri, who was doing relief work in the area to come help out with whatever they can.
awi and her husband want to thank all that had helped and prayed for their time of crisis. special thanks to richie for doing all the grunt work, widdy for his very generous donation that paid for 3 class one metal gas containers and 15 gal. of gas to run the generator, and randy for his contact with relief workers. she and her husband are well, warm and in high spirit.

ps. they could still use some more gas. they have enough gas for about 3 days or so. if anyone's able to bring them some gas or at least take their empty can to refill, please contact me via pm or text 646_752*3966

god bless and thank you.

No gas cans in my area, this morning nor moments ago

The Hess on Main st. were giving out passes and there is a big line(and the most important thing is NO GAS can customers allowed since yesterday); cars are inside the station but no one pumping; not sure what's the deal. I was told, at night, the two stations by college point and Roosevelt have much better shorter lines.
