Hi. I have a Samsung Galaxy Note (The cell phone not the tablet). It's been pissing me off lately. The sync icon appears in the notification bar , and disappears. Appears and disappears. It happens often. Every 2-5 minutes.

When I drop down the menu bar, it says the following:

"Phone book contacts are now syncronizing with online address book"

I click on it and nothing happens. I do not want to do a factory reset because I have lots of apps and lots of data stored in them already. I have already tried to see in the Accounts and Sync. Nothing is syncing.

Any help is appreciated. This thing is SO!!! annoying.

You can try to disconnect your GMAIL account from the phone. it will delete all the contacts and calendar from the phone. But you should be able to just re add the account without a problem.

Also a factory restore is not that big of a deal. When you restore you can just goto the play store and it will list all the apps that you have downloaded and one button and install dont have to search for them.

Even easier to goto playstore on your computer and it will do the same, and you just have it install it.

I just updated my Gs3 to Jellybean and installing all my apps was a snap.

I would do a backup first in recovery mode just to make sure that you dont have an issue.

if you go to "settings", then "accounts and sync" your able to choose to turn on or off automatic syncing. also if you choose the specific account (such as google) you will be able to choose what syncs (from your google account) that way your able to leave on the automatic syncing. this should be the same as my galaxy 2.

Yes. Nothing has changed for the past 3 days. The icon just appeared by itself. It's as if a sync is stuck or something.

I've been on the phone with AT&T for the past 6 hours and all they did was set up a help ticket. Im really infuriated.

I swear by the android central website. Anything you need to know about an android phone is right there and if it isn't then someone there will know how to fix it. Trust me, go over there to their forums and take a look. There is a forum for EVERY android phone.

Try clearing the data for both Contacts and Contacts Storage.

Settings -> Apps -> All, scroll down and find the both apps, click on each of them and CLEAR DATA for both. Reboot the phone and let it sync.

Add any new contacts lately? Maybe an entry got corrupted.

Copied from another post:
1) Take CSV back-up from all the contacts in contacts.google.com.
2) Delete all the contacts in contacts.google.com.
3) Clear Contact storage and Contacts from the phone.
4) Remove my Google account from the phone.
5) Boot.
6) Re-add Google account.
7) Sync everything (0 contacts).
8) Upload CSV backup to contacts.google.com.
9) Re-sync.

I see a factory reset coming. I am surprised that ATT didnt tell you that.

Yeah I also think so. But I am afraid that it will not do anything. It has something to do with some online address book which I never even signed up for!

Also I have a lot of in app data that I do not want to lose. BTW, is there any app that can back up things such as in-game progress, and etc.?

Ok well there is some more info... What online address book????

When I tap on my contacts this pop up appears:

AT&T address book: Checking subscriber information

and nothing.....goes back straight to contact list. In settings, when I tap on AT&T address book, I cannot access my autosync settings or anything. Its just that pop up that constantly appears
