If you have a friend who has a cat , ask that friend for a burlap bag full of urinated cat litter and drag it around the perimeter of your house while bouncing it up and down onto the pavement , it will release the ammonia trace of the cats urine and this can deter rodents!!! Note this method is not recommended for indoor use!!!!

if its an infestation you should hire a professional. Any other option is a waste of time and money. Remember they have been around longer then we have for a reason. They are pretty hard to get ride of. I heard of people moving out instead... lol

Even when they are starved they end up eating each other to survive...

The rats at work have been climbing up in the cars and causing havoc with the engine wiring and such. We are trying to think of a way to get rid of them. It is a real big PITA.

Don't believe everything you see on TV! That's the worst of the worst.

Actually Brendan what we had done at my firehouse I first worked at in Manhattan worked pretty well. We had the same issue especially in the winter. They crawl up into the engine compartment for the heat and chew on the harnesses.

We filled a garbage can with water, covered the top with layer of styrofoam peanuts, put a plank of wood so they could climb up into the can and put peanut butter and other things on a piece of cardboard in the middle of the can. They crawl up and try to walk to the bait, fall in and drown. Just make sure the top rim of the can is at least 6-10 inches above the water line depending on the size of the rats. Check it daily.
