Care credit is not a credit card, the vet must accept it because you get 12-18 months interest free so how they make there money is the vet accepts less money from care credit and you still pay the same bill.
What makes you think that any business MUST accept it...you're correct that the vet would have to accept LESS $ (the interest is actually paid up front by the vet/vendor)...
for the past 20+ years I have refused any type of charge cards in my business...why should I give 2-3% to the bank!

albano is correct, that is why some businesses dont accept american express etc.

Joe right now the vet said the next few months will be rough, he is either going to not make it or make it. My thinking is we do the chemo, if he doesn't make it at least we tried. If he does make it then I'm glad we did it. Not to do the chemo would mean he'd be dead in 2 weeks.

The money isn't really the issue long-term, short-term we weren't expecting this, I paid $2,000 last night and the vet said he'd work with us regarding the rest of the balance. It is just a rough time because my brother just started a new job after being laid off from his previous job due to them closing.

Me being the good brother I am I post-poned my fish tank and am trying to help him as much as possible.

Prayers and hours is all that we have though for Scrappy.. tomorrow he'll be home and then next Friday another round of chemo.

Hey Brando
I feel for you. My boxer Laila just got cleared of cancer and all margins are good now. She had not 1 but 2 cancerous lumps on her. One on her back and the other on her thighish area. It took 20 staples and 15 stiches. They all got removed and she is good to go. The twisting of the intestines is common. My dog used to get sick because she ate to fast and that can cause the twisting. So I used this ball to stick in the bowl so she has to push it around to get her food. I also bought a raised platform for her to eat from. Good luck with ur dog! They are fighters and will fight thru this!

Thanks everyone, he at least has his appetite back. Tomorrow is round 2 of chemo :/, this may give him an extra 6 months, it may give him a year, right now it is up in the air.

At least the vet is letting us work with him on the bill too. I paid an initial $2,000 up front and will pay another $500 next week etc.

Sorry about your brother's dog. They're usually one of the best breeds for being cancer and joint problem free dogs. I had a 3 mo. old pup and went thru all the surgeries as well because of septic infection from multiple punctures to his intestine (because he found a sewing needle with thread) and they had to remove 9 sections of his intestine. After his 2nd surgery, my vet said that he never saw any dog, of any breed, of any age, fight as hard as mine to stay alive. So whether or not the out come is for the better should be a little more on Scrappy's side.

Best of luck with your brother's dog.

well scrappy fought and fought, he has an infection because his body couldn't heal from the surgery.

Vet said he has a month to live, but by next week we should put him down so he doesn't suffer.

We tried as much as we could, but in the end it wasn't enough.

time to spend the last few days with scrappy that I have and pray he meets my other dog in heaven.

I'm so sorry to hear...I really can't imagine how you're feeling. I don't know what I'd do without Big Boy...he's my rock and will be 6 on the 17th. Keeping you and Scrappy in my thoughts and prayers...

When my Ricky started having difficulty breathing again, I knew I couldn't put him through the chemo again. It was very hard o make that decision and end his pain. I know what you are going through and sooo sorry. Enjoy the time you have left and remember the great times. My thoughts and prayers are with you guys. Sorry the news wasn't any better.
