Please NO iPhones!!! Sorry but I just don't like them. Screens are too small and they don't automatically fit the text to your screen like androids do.

The best phone I ever had was a Verion Motorola Droid but as much as I loved the service, I didn't like the lack of customer service. I had a Verizon Sumsung Fascinate and it was horrible compared to the Droid.

Now I have AT&T and my first phone was an HTC Inspire with was about an 8.5 out of 10 as compared to the ease and convenience of using a Moto Droid. This phone didn't work too well after taking a few dives into my tanks and dropping it a couple dozen times too many. Some of you couldn't get in touch with me the phone was so messed up.

So, I twisted AT&T's arm and they finally gave me an early upgrade and I went with the HTC One X. It's a gorgeous phone and I love almost every feature about it but sometimes it won't present the pop-up touchscreen keyboard. They also for some reason didn't think it was necessary to have a "menu" button any longer like the Inspire did and for some crazier reason they made it so you have to touch the phone a number of different ways depending on what mode your in to get the "menu" touch button to pop up somewhere on the screen. It's like playing Super Mario Bros and trying find a hidden prize except in this case the "menu" button pops up.

They also put the charger port on the side as opposed to the bottom like it used to be. I used to be able to talk on the phone while it was charging and now because the port is on the side, it interferes with holding it properly and more important it isn't comfortable to hold it while not putting pressure on the charger jack.

One MR member that I know has the Sumsung Note AKA backpack sized Flatscreen TV. =) Being that I didn't like the Samsung Fascinate i'm not sure this is a better fit. The size of the phone doesn't bother me but I'm wondering if anyone else has it and how they feel about it compared to other smartphones that they've had. I'm sure battery life on it is pretty bad to power that huge screen too.

Any other suggestions? I have about 3 weeks to turn this one in for another one before I'm locked in to this HTC One X that I'm not to crazy about?

Thanks in advance for your input!

have you had other touchscreen phones before it?

How long is your battery life with heavy web surfing?

How long is your battery life when you're not using the net at all?

Thanks again!

Battery life heavy web surfing and not surfing at all: Pretty much all day. The battery is huge. The phone is 6 inches long by 4 inches wide. It comes with a nice pen too.

Trust me you will not regret getting this phone.

LOL too many...iphones (which suck), many androids and blackberries. The Samsung Note is just amazing. If you do decide to get it I can show you all the awsome stuff it does and also tell you which apps are a must.

Cool. I just wanted to make sure I was getting advice from someone that has been there, done that with all these phones. I've been thru so many it's not even funny and most are just plain horrible. I'm surprised Blackberry isn't out of business already. They seem so obsolete compared to all of these smartphones today and their screens are so small.

I appreciate the offer on a tutorial. I'm going to go to a store soon and fiddle around with one. It's probably the only phone that is large enough to double up as a life saving device so with all of my tanks, it may be the right choice =)

Do you have the Otterbox Commuter or Defender case for it?

I have seen the galaxy note.....it's huge. The bigger the screen the more chance of damage?!?!?....especially the way you drop kick your phone. I've seen the cracks you inflicted on your last one. Not a pretty sight.

My wife looked at the galaxy s3.....$600 with plan is a bit steep!

I just got the Samsung GS3 on Sprint, but I think they offer it on ATT. I love it so far...

Thanks Anthony & Widdy,

It's definitely a nice looking phone but the screen is a tad smaller than I'd like to have if I remember from seeing when u were here. I'm surfing a lot so the bigger the better.

Remember when old school desktop monitors were around and everyone wanted bigger ones because they were easier on peoples' eyes especially for people that were using them for extended periods of time. I'm thinking a bigger screen may be better for my eyes as well being that I use it so much.

LOL.... How are we supposed to know how much our phones can take if we don't find out what their limits are? My old phone may have been weathered and ugly BUT it didn't live a boring life!!! =)

It's not always my fault what happens to my phones....

1 phone went on a kyacking expedition with me and my dog. I tied my dog to me on a 12 ft leash and we went really far out into the lake (about 4 big paddles of my double sided ore). All my dog saw was one hell of a huge stick when he saw that ore and once he lundged into the air and grabbed that ore with everything he had, over we went, brand new phone and all =)

It was short lived but lived it did!!!

For the record Tom,

I had that battle scorned phone for almost 18months. That is the longest that any 1 phone has made it in my hands. That was another reason I didn't want to give it up. It's the most dead game phone I've ever owned. It may not have been as simple to use as my Moto Droids were but those were phones were curs and lasted me about 3-6 months each compared to my now retired HTC Inspire.

yeah but it was good for a lot of laughs and an expensive memory

that lake was so deep and you couldn't see the bottom at all it just made me worried that if he cramped up from swimming there would be no reaching him. When you looked down into the water, all you could see was kelp like strands of plant life that went down about 20-30ft and just faded into darkness. Next time I'm blowing up a small inner tube around his stomach =)

they don't make cellphones (as tough) like they used to. i had a nokia (10 yrs ago?) that got ran over by a snowboard and buried in the snow for a couple of hours, ran over with the car, and even left out on the lawn with the sprinkler going for awhile. it survived all those incidents. the saltwater tank was what "done it in!"

Actually I have a speck case, which is a case very tightly wrapped around the phone, and if you were to drop it, the vibrations are absorbed by the tight cushion seal. Awesome case

You know what Tom, screw that, you think my old phone is junk? That's okay. So what if I had to cup my hand over my mouth and the mic to my phone just so other people could hear me. And so what if when I did that I looked like a tool because it looked like I was trying to be secretive as to my phone conversation but at the same time had to speak loudly like I actually wanted people to hear my so-called secret converation. It was a great phone. I'm gonna cremate that bad boy in my blender and put it in an urn on my nightstand! I never had a phone go thru what that one went thru. =)
