Wow that blowup by Wagner was painful to watch yesterday. Here's a guy who's always had great control and he just imploded. What is it with Mets closers anyway? Very very frustrating. As far as I'm concerned he should relinquish the Sandman song to Mariano for good now. LOL.

I can't blame Willie. Wagner only threw a handful of pitches the night before when he struck out the side and he's been needing work. It's nothing but an implosion on Wagner's part. This guy has been a great (albeit not a Mariano but who is) closer for his whole career. His performance yesterday was unimaginable! It isn't like the Yankees were killing him. He beat himself with his wildness and that from a guy who's always had good control. Wagner actually looked worse than Benitez or Looper yesterday! It makes me wonder what he will or won't do in September if the season is on the line.
I'm still shaking my head. Thank God the Braves and Phillies lost.

Wagner has had a history of some wildness. As a manager you have to realize from the start whether he has it or not. At what point do you say, oh i have to go get him? It's not like he was missing close, he was getting wilder and wilder. That's why i blame Randolph for part of it. But oh well, it's done now, time to move on!

Actually, they've done better than that, Russ. Here's an excerpt from an article on Friday before the series began:

"This is the 10th anniversary of the interleague series. The Yankees have a commanding 29-19 edge in the series but the Mets have won seven of the last 12 games. The teams will play three times this weekend then again in the Bronx from June 30 to July 2. With any kind of luck, the third time will be in October."

I am talking in the late years. Back then we had a so so team. In the last couple of years the mets have killed them. That's why i said that the mets are taking over. Just admit it. Hey....every Yankee fan knows A-Rod is on 3rd. How many Met fans know Nady is in rightfield? :scratch:

And BTW, Wright's home run somehow landed in Yankee Stadium's Monument Park.
