Ok trailers in but a lot left to do. They have to fix a bunch( A LOT!!) of mistakes from the factory, the a/c isnt working- it's blowing air, just not cold- the compressors not kicking on(has to be something small and stupid that's going to fix it) and a bunch of siding needs to be replaced along with outside receptacles relocated and I have to set up the gas still(it's a much bigger gas line in the new one than the last, the last had electric water heater but the new one is gas for everything) and I need to run new electric feeds, we're borrowing the installers cord they use to test everything. BUT the main thing is she has her new camping place. She's very happy- so I'm happy.

You see in the pics of the back end of it the corner posts have to be replaced. The back is so low that the driver went through a construction zone and the back hit the ground so they got damaged, that will obviously all be replaced as well along with the bottom pieces of siding that are atached to them.

They will also be cleaning the whole thing, they didnt have a chance because it arrived so late on Thursday and we just wanted it in for the weekend(last true weekend of the season before everyone goes home). Tomorrow all the cleaning and A/C stuff along with setting up a contract with the gas company will be take care of

Once the fixes are all done to our satisfaction the screened room will be jacked up so the decking is even with the door of the trailer and butted up against it.

Here are some pics of the install. I'll post pics of the inside later this week:

Thank God for the good old 457 plan. I work for the NYC also. It's great. Good for you and congrats to your mom. Awesome gift Jimmy!!

Yeah the 457 is great. Just stinks that it gets taxed when you withdraw, but the other bonuses it gives you being a pre tax withdrawal with lowering your income is worth the other side of it.

But it let me be able to do this I'd much rather have my money into this that will just normally depreciate than be reliant on the market. Now that I'm retired I wouldn't be contributing anymore so it would take forever to rebound from each hit it took, IF it ever did fully rebound.

Nice gift and don't forget to also file a gift tax return.............are you over 59 1/2? If you aren't you will be hit with an additional 10% excise tax.

Thanks,

I won't be hit with that. You only get hit with that if you're still in service. If you retire you are eligible to get it out at any time. You are taxed 20% they withold for federal tax:

Directly from the deferred comp site:

When will I become eligible to begin taking distributions, without a penalty, from my Deferred Compensation Plan account?

If you are a participant in the pre-tax 457 Plan, you are eligible to begin distribution, without a penalty, upon severance* from City employment regardless of your age. Regarding distributions from the Roth 457, these can be taken tax-free, provided you are age 591?2 or older, and your initial Roth contribution was made at least five tax years ago.

I don't agree with the "regardless of your age". I believe you had to be at least 55 in the year of separation. Also I didn't know that you were retired.

What about gift tax?

Crox I retired in february.

It is true once retired you can withdraw 100% with 0 penalties regardless of your age. I think the rule is partially because they know if you're retired the market crashes affect you much more heavily than a person still in the ranks. You no longer contribute so each hit is much worse than if you were still paying into it. I know dozens of guys that retired from my same job and withdrew right away all under 55.

When I filed (it takes 30 days for the paperwork to complete its processes) Chase and a few other main things that cause the last crash cost me 3 grand in that 30 day period.

I, even though reading it and hearing it at our pension seminar asked the lady on the phone when I called for the web address for the forms and to ask what forms I needed exactly I asked her as well.

She backed up everything that had been said already- the city withholds 20% for taxes.
