I stopped at the local shopping center over the weekend and parked near the pet store was one of those big vans from North Shore Animal League..argh...

Into the bank I went repeating to myself..do not go near that van, do not go near that van...out of the bank I came ...and walked directly over to the van.
So much for self-control...lol

We named her Patches..

She is 9 weeks old and is a Pointer mix (ok a mutt...ehh... mixed breed), they think she may have some hound-dog in her as well. She is also a dog that came from a shelter in Tennessee (same as Doc did).
Yep, another really energetic type dog, but at least I don't have any birds for her to chase around!

..do note the use of fish tank netting around the fencing behind her so that she can't get stuck between them on the deck. Good thing I have so much of that stuff laying around :)

She and Doc hit it off the second I brought her home. They have been playing non-stop and will be terrific company for each other. I haven't been able to get anything but a blurry pic when they are together, but I'm working on it.

Beautiful puppy(again) Kathy!!!

You're gonna start the new underground railraod for puppies with a tunnel from under your house to Tenessee lol. CONGRATS AGAIN!!! (they should be getting congrats also, couldn't ask for a better person to be cared for by than you)!!!!!

awwww Kathy, how cute. She's beautiful. Those are some big paws on a little pooch. My guess is she ain't gonna be no little doggie. :)

I'm thinking you've decided you're never going on a vacation again, or even a long weekend! lol Unless of course you decide to bring in an army of animal caregivers.

best of luck they are beautiful and you did a super good thing.

I also have two rescue dogs and never regret it for even a second. I just wish I had more time for them.. really with them ;)

I think you should consider insurance for your pets. I know its kind of a new concept but vet bills for the kind of care we give them these days can cost a ton of $.

http://www.petsbest.com/landing/pet-insurance.aspx not recomending this place just an example , maybe you can ask drcooper for a good one.

its important to insure pups very young the way they write the exclusion criteria ...

but in the long run is well worth it. especially if your pet gets sick or injured.

and no I don't work for a them or any other insurance co. lol I just love my dogs..

Thanks A :) Those vans are definitely dangerous! lol
I am sure you will have your giant breed one of these days.

Thanks guys, and I am thinking about the pet health insurance.

I weighed her tonight..13 pounds, not so bad considering she about the size of an average cat at this point (in height anyway). She does have some hefty paws on her, it will be fun watching her grow :)

Still trying to get a few good pics~!

Well-written! haha...

As far as pet insurance, if she is a rescue, be wary of the restrictions the insurance providers may impose, claiming "preexisting conditions", etc. I don't have pet insurance for my two dogs. I save up money each week in a dedicated "rainy day fund", and I have a membership with a vet discount program called Pet Assure, which deducts 25% from my bill at the time of service. I think United Pet Care is a similar company, if I recall correctly. I use PA instead of pet insurance though.
