Gigabit card question

I have a switch (TP-Link TL-SG1005D) with pc/servers connected. however on this pc(dell deminsion 9100) running win7 ultimate 32bit which i just installed a Hiro 32 Bit 10/100/1000 Mbps Gigabit Ethernet card it is showing only as 100 mb/s. the driver has been updated. any ideas? others with built-in gigabit nics are working in gigabit mode.

Could be a few things.

Make sure you are using Cat5E patch cords.

Can you manage the port on the switch? If so, try setting the port to Gig (hardcode it), and then on your PC make sure you turn negotiation off and also set it to Gig.

thks for the tips. mystery solved. i was using cat5s but found there was a lan splitter in the middle. removing the splitter did it.

Yup, no splitters = no collisions = gigabit

Wow a Lan Splitter, haven't seen them in ages! Most useless thing out there.
