So I've been living without a tv or stereo since moving and figured its time to remedy that. So after a good three months of research - overkill maybe yes - I settled on a tv ( Panasonic VIERA TC-P50GT30 50-Inch 1080p 3D Plasma HDTV ). Now I'm looking for a sound system to match. I want it to listen to music as much as for the surround. The room is fairly small - about 12x15'. I can't decide between getting a HTIB or a component receiver and separate Blu-ray player and speakers. I do want it t be able to 3D since the tv is 3D ( wasnt particulary in the market for 3d as its been unimpressive so far but it just happened to work out that way in the end). I also want it to have wireless networking and DLNA compatiblity for streaming from my computer. Not so sure about any other features. My main issue with the component option, besides the added cost, is having to then pick speakers - I'm clueless about speakers. The HTIB that I've looked at so far all seem to have mediocore sound quality. I prefer to spend no more than $600 altogether and less is better if it wont sacrifice much in quality. Any advice?

I would go with a panasonic dmp-bdt 210 since your using a tv made from panasonic already. I would go with a reciever either a denon or an onkyo 3d capable. Now with speakers, sound bar is nice. KEF htf8003. A lil bit stip on the price but sounds great or a definitive mythos ssa-42 and pair it up with a nice sub from definitive or velodyne and you got a nice sound system.

I got the denon dvr-1912 receiver ,, has everything 400 bucks for reciever.. I am the happiest man

I'd go this route. That way you can get better speakers. Small spaces dont require big speakers, and as long as you have an at lease a 8" sub, you'll be rocking. You can get away with 6.5 inch speakers with that combo. I know its over 6 hun but certain you can't skimp on. Like speakers.
you wouldnt catch me dead listening to samsung speakers!!

I would listen to straightjiggy. He seems to know his stuff and wouldnt steer you wrong.
To go with a reciever and speaker of good quality you would need to up your budget by about a grand IMO
If you do up your budget.
Integra 30.3 reciever
Focal jmlab speakers
Velodyne sub
oppo blue ray player
My best advice would be to go out to real world, brick and mortar hi fi shops and listen to see what you like. Then go on audiogon.com and search the classifides for good deals on used equip. HT is the same as reefing. People upgrade and sell their used equip for 10-50 cent
on the dollar.
Slow and educated is the way to go here. You dont want to go watch a movie or listen to music in someones house and end up with "System Envy"
