Antivirus recommended

Interesting. Is there an article backing this claim? I'm an AVG partner and would like to know who I'm dealing with if they're one of them.

He's talking about those Scareware viruses that pose as a legit Anti-virus program. Kind of like the ones that mimic AVG. I personally no longer use AVG and I hate it; we used to call it All Viruses Good at one company I worked for because it let everything through.

I've done my fair share of removing those things, so yea I'm intimately familiar with those. A lot of the suggestions here are very good though, and none of them are viruses.

After scanned virus etc then re installing window 7 will it be back to normal ?

If you reloaded windows, it means you must have re-formatted, if you did you got rid of everything, files, windows, and the virus. You should be good to go. Don't forget to install your AntiVirus though.

go with windows security essentials--pretty good for a microsoft product and best of all it free!

most antivirus programs does about the same job. updates/scans r auto with the same list going around all the antivirus circulars. the ones that charge $ will sell other crap like firewall,spam/malware protection,etc.. i rather use a light weight av with less footprint/resource than to pay n load the system with loads of crap n hogs up my processing speed.
if needed, spybot, malwarebytes,etc.. are also free.
but if u feel safer having to pay than all the power to ya. lol!
