hammer is still closed up even tighter if anything so I'm gonna try one more spot. Just trying to avoid working on this tank since my hand takes up 1/2 the tank and it's such a pain not to mention I'm stressing everybody out when I do.

Have you consider using a pair of tongs and did you check the parameters?

getting some stringy/fuzzy algae hard to tell what color but I need to get something to check phosphate levels...correct? Going to reduce the hours of light on the tank since I only see it on the areas directly under the light mostly.

Def check phosphate but I think maybe you are running the light too long?
How much are you turning it up and how many hours?

Keeping me about 1/3 to 1/2 power 8-10 hours a day with just moonlights at night. Algae is getting out of hand! Need to cut back on the lights for sure and get a crab or something

Did you check your phosphates yet? Also maybe cut back on feeding?

I went to the LFS and got some phosphate stuff put it in a bag in the filter and I'm cutting back on light and feeding once every 3 days for a couple weeks till its under control. Gonna get a test kit tomorrow

Run some purigen, it absorbs nitrate. Just dont add too much too fast. Also, do you think your hammer might be bothered by too much flow?

Nah because it was flourishing just a couple weeks ago when I got it now it barely comes out as well as a couple other corals.

Gonna check phosphates every other day to see the levels go down...hopefully

Also picked up a sand sifting starfish little guy is awesome and is doing a good job at stirring the sand thus far

It wasn't a sand sifting star was it? You're tank might be too small if it is. For my edge I use 3 Nausirrus Snails and they keep the sand bed clean, only thing is that I'm changing the polyester every 3x a week because of how much my Dendro poops.

I have 3 turbo snails and 5 nausirrus snails but they don't seem to be doing much for the tank...

Which Nausirus. The white super tongan are beastly, but I'm not a fan of the dark ones.

Just curious but are you testing for calcium and alkalinity?
