Believe it or not someone on RC actually put their shrooms in a blender and let it rip. I'm sure you could find the thread using a search. From what I read it wasn't much of a success.

Buzz, that's a good idea on putting a heater in the skilter. I am sumpless and with no fuge on my 50 and would like to hide a few things (hang on). How even is the temp, I have my heater next to a MaxiJet and don't have any fluctuations(sp?)

How is water clarity, (cloudiness) with no sump? I don't have a sump on my 29. I have a DSB, about 35lb LR and light fish load, 2 small percs, a few LPS corals and the water is crystal clear.

It all depends on how salty you want your water. There really isn't a correct salinity. I keep mine at 1.026 at about 80F.

I agree with Tremelle, play with the powerheads. I found if you lower the powerheads closer to the bottom and have them directed to the surface it doesn't blow the sand around as much.

I have two. 50 gal FOWLR and a 29 reef. I live in an apt so I don't have a lot of room to work with or guarenteed I'd have at least one more.

After cleaning mine it bubbles too. I found that after the the chamber gets a layer of gunk on it the bubbles stop.

Both of my sand beds are about 4 inches and too fine to vacuum.

I have a tomato clown that does this too. I have a niger trigger in a different tank that likes to rearrange stuff so maybe they have something in common.
