  1. The nurse

The product they are talking about is spelled NURCE, it is no longer available but here is a website that has some pics and basic information: http://www.aqualan.com/index.html
  2. Going overboard

THey way to decide in my opinion if it is overkill or not is to determine your calcium requirements. If you are having to dose alot of calcium to the tank to maintain calcium levels then either a kalk or calcium reactor would be a good addition. If you have to continually add a small amount of...
  3. Major newbie to nanos question???

You may want to wait until towards the end of you additions for the feather duster unless you plan on target feeding it, there won't be anything it can use for food (fishwaste) in the very beginning. If you are going to be adding phytoplankton for the corals then it would be fine to add him now...
  4. 32watt light for 12gal Nano

What is the length of the bulb and endcap? I see the heelolights reflector is 14" but what is the shortest is can be cut down to, in other words just the length of the bulb and endcap. Thank you in advance, Skip
  5. thinkin bout a 24g nanocube

I would also avoid filter feeders like the featherduster for a month or two unless you plan on feeding suitably sized food just for filter feeders. Ricordeas are another coral you may want to consider. Zoos can add a ton of color to a tank so I highly recommend them for your system. I also...
  6. Honest opinions on my 12g Nano for the buildoff please:

Pygmies wouldn't be a good choice with seahorses, the only tankmates you put in with them should not compete with them at all for food or they won't get enough to eat unless you serious overfeed the tank and that would make other problems.
  7. New skimmer - big bubbles....

Like ChrisRD already stated, the bubble will be smaller in saltwater due to saltwater having a different density than freshwater. You did a professional looking job, keep up the good work. Skip
  8. where to order acrylic solvent on-line??

I ordered some cement from www.usplastics.com, I don't know if they carry the cements you are looking for but they do carry Weldon 16 and either 3 or 4 (what I bought). Good luck, Skip
  9. Protein Skimmer for a 10 gal. nano

One of the biggest problems that you are going to run into when trying to buy a hang on skimmer for a 10 gallon is height, a Bakpak or Remora are too tall and unless the tank is on a stand where the skimmer can extend beyond the tanks bottum, they won't work. Like Brandon said, you could use a...
  10. Plumbing scare

I added a Durso to my tank not too long ago and am very pleased that I did. If you have a standard overflow with 1" drain plumbing then you will need to use either 1 1/4" or 1 1/2" pipe to make your Durso. If you have an AGA you will have to use 1 1/4" and cut the street elbow and tee down a...
  11. Cell Pore Slabs for reducing nitrates

Thanks for the reply Len, That is one of the main things that has me going, this tank has been set up for a little more than 2 years. I am starting to wonder if maybe my RO membrane is going bad so I have bought a TDS meter online today to check it. As I said before, I know that nitrates are...
  12. Cell Pore Slabs for reducing nitrates

Thanks for the rsponses. I guess I should tell you a little about my system and then we can go from there. I have a 75 reef ready with an 18 gallon sump (I plan to upgrade it to a 30 in the near future) and an attatched 18 gal refugium. I have very little bio load on my system, I have a small...
  13. Cell Pore Slabs for reducing nitrates

Has anybody used the cell pore slabs (bio slabs) that are 9"x9"x4" for denitrification? Kent is marketing these and claim that they will reduce nitrates to near 0. I was wondering if anyone has used or is using these and what their opinion of them is. Thanks in advance, Skip
  14. salifert test kits

6- nitrate 1- calcium with my kits
  15. Cleaners dieing??????

This is a little bit far fetched but I had a bad experience with it a couple of years ago with similar circumstances with my inverts myteriously kicking the bucket, check the tank for copper with a good test kit. It turned out that the source of my copper was some dead LR I added as base rock...
