2x250 watt setup only draws 5 amps. Ive got both of my tanks sharing houshold circuts(drawing over 1500 watts) for 2 years never tripping the circut breakers.One tank is on during the day and the other comes on at night.

Just cut out the old ballast and connect the same color wires on the new ballast. If the bulbs don't light, then plug a new starter in. Very simple.

Mag 7's still have bugs that need to be worked out!

I have a purple thing on my live rock that is definitely not an Aptasia. It looks more like a button polyp with tentacles. Sorry, i'm not very big on electronics these days so no digital pics.

The thing that makes protein skimmers work is the high PH and the salt. Sorry, but skimmers were made for saltwater. You could most definitely use the other filtration though.

You could buy a reflector from lampsnow.com or I use a peice of sheet metal that I cut to size and polished multiple times with brasso metal polish.

I use that ballast. I bought mine from hellolights.com for the same price. I use normal output(40 watt) bulbs with this setup and it works great.

I run 4 NO bulbs on the lampsnow ballast.

Burning the bulbs in a vertical position still loses a lot of light to the side.

The only reason I say no to pendants is : HID bulbs put off the most light(lumens) when burnt horizontally. If you want to get the most out of your halides, do the canopy thing or buy a hood that holds the bulbs horizontally.. [ March 23, 2002: Message edited by: mariner ]</p>
