  1. Should it take a week to fill a CO2 tank????

I have also had luck with places that fill fire extinguishers. They can usually do it while you wait.
  2. quiet one pumps - opinions on them?

I have had my Quiet One on my 55 for almost 2 years now. I have had no problems with it. I would put some kind of rubber pad underneath it if you can to help cut down the noise. Mine is in my living room so any way to cut noise is good.
  3. Controlling pH in both directions.....

I have the same problem. I just bought the Aqua Controller Pro and also have a reactor. What I worked out was that my flow rate is a little higher than it was before I had the controller. Since most of the calcium is being used during the daytime when the lights are on, it is not too...
  4. RE; OCtopus 3000

Neptune Systems makes the Aqua Controller and Aqua Controller Pro. Their phone # is (408)578-3022. Website is at neptunesys.com I am thinking of buying one and am searching for a good price. I found that it is easier to call them directly to figure out which components you will need.
  5. Average life of Metal Halide bulbs?

What is the average life of metal halide bulbs before they burn out? How long before you really need to replace them? I have a Hamilton 250w 10k that burned out after a month. I have returned it and they are sending me a new one for free, but it made me start thinking about the expected...
  6. Best Ca reactor

I have the K2R. It was expensive but works pretty well. I had two problems at first with it. 1) Inspector 12 or whomever forgot to put in an O-ring and the thing leaked onto my floor all night. NOT GOOD! 2) Safety valve on my CO2 tank blew and released a frezzing cloud of gas into my...
  7. Advice on Clown Behavior

I have a 55 and had two Percula clowns. I added a Clarks clown after I got a rose anemone because the perculas wouldn't go near it. They liked my hammer coral. After I added the clarks clown everything was fine......for a while. After a month or so, the clarks clown grew and grew and...
  8. How often should PC lamps be changed?

I changed out my 2 96W lights at 9 months and noticed a difference in my corals right away. It seemed to take them a few days to get used to the new light. I didn't notice them being brighter or anything but the corals did react. My lights are on for about 12 hrs per day.
  9. red light at night

I had an emerald crab that got too big for his own good, so I had to remove him. I put a glass vase in my tank with some food in the bottom and placed it right next to a rock. Within about 10 minutes the crab climbed right in and couldn't get out! It works really well.
  10. ? regarding controllers for those who use them.

Any idea if the Octopus has a hard wired solution for lights, etc. rather than the x10 modules?
  11. ? regarding controllers for those who use them.

I am doing research on these as well. The two main ones seem to be the Neptune Systems controller and the Octopus 3000. Check aquadirect.com they seem to have a decent site. Or try marinedepot.com they have a bunch of different brands.
  12. Public Aquariums in So California?

Sea World in San Diego has a couple of reef tanks. They are not that impressive though. Scripps aquarium in La Jolla has better reef tanks. They have about 5 or six different tropical tanks that aren't too bad. Nothing like the Waikiki aquarium, but I would guess, not much is. I was in La...
  13. How to keep anemone from splitting?

I have had mine for almost a year now and it is doing great. It has more than tripled in size and looks very healthy. I am sure that there are people who have kept many different kinds of anemones for many years. I find that my anemones do better than some of my corals do.
  14. Where is my wrasse

How long have you had your wrasse? I added an ornate wrasse to my tank that hid for three weeks, before coming out and getting eaten by my anemone.
  15. Are dwarf angels ok for a reef?

Thanks everyone for the info. Leonard, can you elaborate on 100% reefsafe? Is it the occasional nip at a coral or actually eating some of the corals and clams. How much damage occurs with these angels? Is it mere irritation or actual damage?
