  1. How do I frag large rocks? What tools?

I use a screwdriver/chisel and a hammer to break up the rocks.
  2. DIY Dosing Pump plans?

Hey Stephen, have you tried ebay? I bought a few nice peristaltic pumps (Cole-Palmer) for under $40.
  3. Who makes the Twin Towers Reactor

Just make sure what acrylic they use. Sometimes some manufacturers used extruded while another uses cast. Although it's hard to tell the difference sometimes from photos, the cast is much sturdier.
  4. C02 regulator recomendations

I have been researching the Milwaukee brand which is only $89 at customaquatics but it seems like Myreef had lots of problems with these regulators when he was selling as a package with his calcium reactors. Looks like he switched to blueline.
  5. Inland Reef / Reefs.org Salt Analysis Project

How about sampling some of this Catalina water that a lot of the LFS sell in California?

  7. Powerhead/Pump recommendations?

You can try a couple of externally mounted GEmini powerheads (960gph) or place a Tunze or a reeftec in the tank.
  8. 2 - 250 Watt MH Magnetic Or Electronic Ballasts?

$120 a month? That's pretty cheap compared to Cali.
  9. HI TECH or gemini POWERHEAD DIY MOUNT HELP!!!

I think the Gemini has mounting brackets for your tank. If you have eurobracing, you need to have a hole to fit the pumps.
  10. M59 or M135

I think some online stores are recommending using the M135 for the USHIOS now. http://www.hellolights.com/40unmagm1bal.html * Pulse Start ballast. We recommend you use this on 400W Ushio 10,000K and Radium 20,000K lamps
  11. DIY Canopy

Try using 3/4" plywood, preferably oak plywood if you can afford it. About $45 for a 4ftx 8 ft sheet. I have a custom tank that is 39" in length too. But it would be nice if you can make a canopy that flips up from the front and top. This will allow for elbow room for moving corals and...
  12. Buying a new tank - need suggestions from current owners.

I like the Cube tank. It's probably the cheapest in terms of lighting configuration.
  13. First Reef Tank Ever

You should look into a 250 W HQI DE Metal Halide pendant such as from PFO, Sunlight supply or Geismann. Will probably run over $300 unless if you bought it used. That should work well for a reef and you should be able to keep almost everything. Any of the soft corals such as mushrooms, green...
  14. are people taking advantage of me?

Hehe. My sentiments exactly. And you really don't need MHs if it's a fish only system.
  15. Any DIYers wanna build me a sump?

Do you use an acrylic saw blade?
