    Fingernail size is good enough for most small BTA per feeding. You can also experiment with frozen fish, chopped silverside/mackrel, fresh mussel, and you can enjoy the leftovers.

    Siphoning the sand counter the purpose of having LS. After you finished siphoning all the little critters out of the LS, you are left with cycled cheap dead sand. However, I think it is already too late now...... I'd suggest to take LFS's word lightly.

    Don't know how BA spread, but the mithrax did clean out the small BA in my tank. Leaving the large ones that I hand removed myself. However, mithrax eventually start to dine on my coral polyps, so I gave them back to LFS

    You can get cheap dead corals or dead-as-doornail base rock, but not limestone.

    Also, if it's dry sand that you bought, what I have done in the past is to sit them in a bucket with old tank water, and a piece of LR from the tank, with circulation. The idea is to coat the fine grains of sand with bacteria before adding them into the tank, much like cycling the sand first...
