  1. Calico crab and Chocolate Chip Star

Calico crab and Chocolate Chip Star......almost sounds like something to serve at a luncheon..... This may sound strange to some, but I've always liked the chocolate chip starfish. I've never had one as I've never had a tank that didn't have something in it that the star would eat. But now I'm...
  2. 29 Dragonet Tank at 3 weeks

That's cool that you have started on the tank.....looking good too! I haven't started anything yet, it seems that something else always pops up, but one thing I did do was to get some rock rubble from my LFS (man did I get some funny looks for that....."No, I don't want that nice big piece from...
  3. Say, what happened to that new seahorse site?

So the ahhh....."other" site was shut down and this new one put up. Don't know why they didn't do that in the first place! Thanks for clearing that up!
  4. Listing the number of years you have been in the hobby.

I've been keeping saltwater for about 2 1/2 years. Started out with reef although mainly softies. As for general fishkeeping, I've been keeping freshwater fish off and on for around 30 years.
  5. Say, what happened to that new seahorse site?

I have heard through the grapevine that the new seahorse site, syngnathid.org has been shut down for copyright infringement. Wanted to find out how true that was.....
  6. Confusing situation (long)

Aside from everything that has already been said (stop dosing iodine, add a skimmer, remove as much of the gunk as possible), one thing that no one has suggested is running carbon in your filter. A big anemone like that can put out a large amount of chemicals and carbon will help to remove it...
  7. my wife had our baby.....

Congratulations Ben!! :D She's adorable ~ you're going to have so much fun watching her grow up! I wish you and your family the very best!
  8. Glowing Worm?

The one I had was blue. Some sort of worm that uses the glow for breeding purposes. Julian Sprung wrote about it (briefly) in one of his columns. They don't live very long in the aquarium and they won't hurt anything either. Enjoy it while you can!
  9. 20long Dragonet Tank

When I first started saltwater, I did like many and used crushed coral as my substrate (I had no internet at that time), and one thing I did notice was tons of life in the cc.....pods, worms, small brittles, etc... Even though I have more than enough pods, etc...in the 90 with a sandbed when I...
  10. Poll: Do Shrimp have affect on spawning?

I don't know how to reply to this as my dominos have spawned originally with a pair of camelbacks in the tank but then they've spawned since the shrimp were moved to another tank.....?????
  11. Flower Anemones-Cold Water????????

I would imagine that there are some flowers somewhere that are cold or temperate water anemones, but the ones sold for the hobby are usually the tropical varieties. At least every one that I've heard of and read about were kept in a tropical tank.
  12. Fish eater!

I don't know what it is exactly, (on why I'm not a big fan of brittlestars) but I don't care for triggers either.....uh oh, now I'm in hot water with the triggerfish fans!!
  13. Fish eater!

While I'm not a big brittlestar fan, I do understand where Ophiuroid is coming from. All of the animals in your tank want to live, not just that expensive fish you bought. I have in one of my tanks an unknown crab that came in on some LR that I bought. When I talk about my tank and it's...
  14. Clown homes, where does yours live?

Large featherduster. Gets really mad too when it closes up on her!
  15. Flower Anemones....anyone here have them?

I've found that (at least) my flower won't eat fish because it had the chance to grab a small yellowtail damsel that got too close. Gave the fish a sting I'm sure but released it very quickly. Boy did that fish give the anemone a dirty look!!! Hey JustPhish....you say you have several...
