  1. Hey peeps, I need a good hang on skimmer for a 120 gallon.

I'd just mention that I don't know what kind of noise those make...or don't make...but the Aqua-C that I have is pretty close to silent....Has a very, and I mean very, slight sound. If you're five feet from it, you don't hear it. That's one of the many reasons I like it....The lovely wife...
  2. Crustacean Video

All I can say is where was that mantis shrimp when I was going through my divorce...cudda used him.
  3. Hey peeps, I need a good hang on skimmer for a 120 gallon.

For a 120 gallon tank, when it comes to the Aqua C, I don't think were talking about their hang-on-the-tank line.....the one I got can be mounted in the sump or, if cosmetics allow for it, as they do in my case, beside the tank. The hang-on-the-tank of any brand, whether it be Aqua-C or anyone...
  4. Hey peeps, I need a good hang on skimmer for a 120 gallon.

    I recently...about 3 months ago...set up a 120. I have an Aqua-C...I think it's great. The people at Aqua-C are very helpful too.
  5. a couple questions please.....

Maybe the best thing to do is to keep a number of them. They are gregarious animals. I'd get them from different sources to increase the odds that you'd get at least one that will eat the Aptasia.
  6. coralife pc problems

That's a great way to end that problem. I bought a Coral Sea Life (four bulb with moonlights) and found out a week later that the company went out of business altogether. About a week after that, the fan started making an awful noise. I had to buy a fan and replace it. No one gave me free...
  7. Help... tank not level ....

Give Candide's good shim suggestion a try, but you might have to empty or drain the tank a good bit for anything, even a thin shim, to fit under that kind of weight. Still, a half inch isn't very significant at all and so don't be overly concerned.
  8. a couple questions please.....

I've frequently read that Peppermint Shrimp will eat Aptasia.
  9. Help... tank not level ....

You didn't mention what the size of your tank is. A half inch difference on an acrylic tank (no seams) shouldn't be a problem but if you're not going to be secure and it's going to irk you, drain the tank and you'll have to level it off in a way that won't allow the tank to shift in the future...
  10. coralife pc problems

It's strange that only the two actinics aren't working. Switch them with the 10,000K's and see if those work where the actinics were. If they don't then the unit might be defective. If the 10,000K's work there then the batch of actinics that yours came from must be. Let us know.....
  11. Can anyone ID this coral for me?

So, let's review...There's no Jesus in the pic, and I have "star polyps," which are scientifically known as Briareum. The coral is doing better in my tank already than it was in the fish store, so I'm happy for that. I'm also grateful for your help in figuring out what it is.
  12. Can anyone ID this coral for me?

Here's a pic that shows more precise detail...
  13. Stubborn Mushroom?

What I mean is that I have glass over the tank and lighting units that more or less sit on the that, which cover the tank. A four bulb power compact unit, which is one of the fixtures on top of the tank, has a fan. But basically, there's no way to get a fan to blow on the surface of the water...
  14. Can anyone ID this coral for me?

Well, I bought it...Thanks for the warning...I have my machete ready. Just for the record though, the polyps on this one each have a thin, crusty like neck that's a rosey red color. It's a little too dark to tell in the pic, and the necks and the stars are a nice pink color, not too different...
  15. Can anyone ID this coral for me?

I don't often buy corals without knowing what they are and knowing whether I can provide them with what they need but I saw this one in a fish store and I was wondering what it is...I'm itching to buy it. THANKS
