Let's face it, Canada provides nothing to the world stage. Their big claim to fame is that they proved to anyone interested in Socialism that it doesn't work. Unfortunately since Canada is broke, they can't afford to communicate the failure. Why don't they just print some more Monopoly money with another Country's queen on it...then they could afford to print and distribute "Why Socialism is a Failed Methodology" pamphlets.

Get real, the only reason that Canada is even a world player is because they are sitting next to the USA. They're like the Yoko Ono of world politics.

I've been a lurker here for a long time, and normally don't see anything worth providing input to. But I have read many, many of your posts. You goose step around preaching industry this, and reform that. But the simple truth is that you don't have the back bone to backup any of your statements with action. There are many names for someone like that, the first that comes to mind is empty suit. People like you just take up space in this world and we would all be better off if you were all confined to one area. Oh forgot, you already are, eh.

Just because its not presented in hobby-chat format, doesn't mean things aren't happening. If readers of this forum had the stomach for it and a longer attention span, a less recreational attitude and a real sense of mission and responsibility, it would perhaps attract more input.

Your fear in taking them on and your silly side-stepping of all things Canadian suggests insincerity to say the least.

ABTRACTS ARE DUE MONDAY

Naesco’s abstract title can read “Reeform progress toward eliminating the importation of drugged fish into Canada, by discontinuing the export of fish from the offending countries and its effect on the live fish trade"

Of course they would have to ban US export of fish as well unless you change the word drugged to cyanide.

Steve’s abstract title should read “How to not be effective in curbing the use of Cyanide by a bunch of paper pushing PhDs, and a demonstration of the effectives of grass roots village level training by ordinary people without complicated initials following their names.”

Kalks abstract should read “There never was a problem, never has been a problem, never will be a problem, because I have done some kalkulations and the numbers don’t add up.”

Canada has a proud history of military service... how many thousands of Canadian soldiers died during the world wars? Many went to Korea too, and even some *gulp* to Viet Nam! Not like Canada has never been to war - and Canada loves to glorify its heroes - as well it should. Yep, German isn't my fortee but it would be mine and yours if not for the sacrifices made by all of the Allies.... Perhaps you should read a bit of history so you aren't doomed to repeat it.

Would you still be singing "Give Peace a Chance" if they'd blown up Bay Street? I'll never forget 9/11. I don't like the idea of war either - but there are times when it's necessary. We didn't blow them up first, but once the gauntlet was dropped, IMO it behoved the US to take care of business, which they are doing, much to the gratitude of the Iraqi and Afghan people. I have a friend in Canada who is originally from Iraq and I was sitting beside her at dinner when the first Gulf War started - and she was thrilled that her people might be liberated - and disappointed then when the job wasn't finished.... but again I digress.

Last time I checked, there was no draft here in the US currently - those who serve CHOOSE to do so, and I'm extremely grateful for them, one and all. My friend's son is in Iraq for the second time - the first time he was a Marine during the fall of Bagdhad, and when he got out of the Marines he joined the Army.

Danieldm - please thank your wife for her service, from my family - to yours.

While we got off on the subject...I am not a die hard Republican conservative. I think Bush has made some major mistakes, and in the military the buck stops with the commanding officer. Even if the commander was not aware of an incident, they are still responsible for what happens under their command. As Commander in Chief, Bush is responsible for taking us to war on faulty intelligence. But it isn't a Republican issue or a Democrat issue, Clinton's administration had the same data and came to the same conclusions. Other countries, incuding Canada, believed as the US did that Saddam had major WMD stock piles. The entire world was fooled, again, including Canada.

My wife's role in the Middle East puts her into contact with a lot of soldiers. We have many fiends that are in the Military, and all have served in one way or another in support of the war on terror. One nasty thing the media does is report that our soldiers are not happy about being in Iraq. Of course they are not happy about being in a war zone and separated for a long time from their families. But what doesn't get reported is the answer to the question "do you believe in what you are doing". The overwhelming answer is yes.

Of the eight or nine friends that we have that are in Iraq or Afghanistan, they all ask for the same things in their care packages. Books, candy, comics, and the list goes on & on. They are asking fo these items becuase they use them as gifts towards the Afghani and Iraqi people. Where ever they go they are surrounded by kids. They are asked to share Chai with the locals, they are invited to dinners. In Iraq we are fighting an estimated 10000 A holes so that 27 Million can live in peace. No one wants to avoid war more than a soldier.

Wayne I really wished that diplomacy and talking would have worked. But for diplomacy to bring about peace both sides must have a goal to create peace. The Islamofacists don't want peace...they have two goals:
Goal One: Kill the Infidels
Goal Two: Convert the Infidels. If failure see Rule One.

The only way to reeform industry is to take legislative action which would include.

1. Prohibiting the import of fish from the Philippines and Indonesia where the use of cyanide is rampant.

I am curious if you looked into whether or not this is permissible under WTO rules.
