i have a question i have a nice piece of xenia , but its been in my tank for about two weeks ..always looks like its about to open but hasnt yet..any suggestions ..thank u
Xenia can be very temperamental. Mine have been in my tank for over 8 months and every now and again they do the same thing for a day or two. Yours look pretty healthy otherwise and may still be getting acclimated. As long as they dont look like their melting, I wouldn't worry too much. Perhaps try moving them to another section with different flow or lighting or both. Just be forewarned, if they look like they are starting to dissolve or melt away, take them out quickly and run some carbon or chemipure. They can really foul up your tank.
It looks like efflatournaria..do a search on it.
If it is, you should only expect to see small 'hands' opening at the tips, not like your typical Xenia that opens larger and 'pumps'. It also looks like you might have it durectly under your ligh, it might possibly be happier off toward the side of the tank.
thank you all for the information...man this site is great .. and i think your right Kathy C i looked up efflatournaria and thats excatly what it looks like ...i quess let me try moving it to see what happens , its been sticking to other rocks in just the small time frame that its been in my tanks..thanks again all
