Hopefully it didn't bring any ick from your tank into the ocean, hehe. I truly think releasing that little crab into the waters here was no big deal. It would most definitely be eaten before it hits the bottom.

im so done with this topic. I DID GIVE HIM AWAY. what that person did with it wassnt my prob

I just came across this thread and something that I had learned long ago was don't get too angry over things that have been done and can't be changed but move forward in a better light. :)

Something I learned also more recently (from MR Spring Frag Swap actually) was from a booklet in the papers we were all given. Yes, I did actually read all of those lil' tidbits of information passed along. ---

Now I freeze any and all things removed from the tank. From macro algae or nuisance algae clumps we pull out, to anything I find on frags upon inspection before going into the tank, to fish that pass on etc. I've had more ziploc baggies in my freezer at points in time.. when friends go for some ice they never know what they will encounter. :tongue1:

Seriously though, even flushing a fish or something from our tanks down the toilet or just tossing it in the trash can very well can have an effect on the environment.

Personally I'd have given him the brick then put him in the freezer  then to the local landfill in a ziploc baggie he would have went.

I live by Yaphank Lake and there is a plant that has taken over the lake. It was introduced by someone, somehow and now the lake is basically unfishable, unenjoyable etc.

Meg-- just be glad this thread unfolded as it did, because at least it gave a great opportunity for the word to get out on how important it is to act responsibly when releasing things back and where they end up. (just so you know my reply is not an intended dig at what was done with the critter--but more to let others know and share information I feel is valuable).
