Crox, i am sure they r not Dendros :) I just noticed that 2 "mini-colonies" are yellow. The rest are orange. Very nice, i got 2 diff colors of Sun Polyps.

Steve, i got to get me a Dendro now:). How long do you keep them in that feeding container? I feed mine directly in tank b/c at the same time i am feeding my acans. Is there a reason to feed them seperately?

Kenny I keep it in there for 30 -45 min with the low flow every polyps gets food. I usually shut of all the pumps feed directly in tank but shrimps and others will steal and high nutrient risk.

btw: if u want them let me know just pay me the dendro and you can have the sun for free. I'm sick of target feeding lol.

Guys do your sunpolyps stay open? My only open during feeding, but the rest of the time they stay closed. Is there a way to get them to open, and stay open more frequently?

Moidol, I was told not keep taking them sunpolyp & dendro out for feeding because that would be stressing them to much. I use to take the dendro out for feeding twice day, but stopped because of the previously mentioned advice.

l've mention before I tried target feed in tank but it has hard time to take the food. and I end up having high nitrate problem. I been feeding them in the container for few months. IME they open up most of the time if I put them in a shad area.

Mine will open up even when all the lights are on. It will open and close throughout the day. I try not to only feed when lights are out.

See, that is exactly what I am trying to figuer out. Your's open regardless of the light, or feeding schedule. My sunpolyps are in the shade, and will only open during feedings. They seem to open just a tad during other times. I tried moving it to a cave, but then they are bothered by the brittle star fish.:(
The dendro opens all the time, it just the sunpolyps that I find that do not. Should I feed them less? Will they open more if they were kept hungry? I've read that they open mostly at night, and or when they are hungry. Just trying to understand their behaviour via you guy's experience with them.;)
Moidol, I understood why you feed out of the tank. I was just stating what I was told. Have you found any adverse reactions to removing them for feeding?

If you put the coral onto it's feeding container before removing it from the tank, i don't think the sun coral will even notice it.

BTW, im getting Steve's dendro :) yay!

Thanks Guys! That's probably it, I feed them everyday sometimes 2X. I guess they're full, no need to exercise energy opening up.lol

You should share the dendros..;)

I feed my suncorals and dendros in tank just because I have so many of them. The shrimps eat some of the food but I feed the tank about 2-3 times a week. No filter or skimmer just a CPR fuge. Nitrates stay low. I feed mysis, cyclopeeze, formula one flakes, black worms, diced shrimps and squid. The first week or two of getting a suncoral I feed it outside the tank.
