Looking to put together a scuba dive trip for guys and gals on MR.. Looking to do in either July or Aug for a day trip. I spoke to a great dive shop in and they can charter a boat for like 20 guys. It cost $120 for 2 tanks, tip for captain, and lunch
Equipment rental if dont have is like $70-100. If you have fins and googles its $70 so you get the hint. All levels are welcome he said!! that means If you a certfeild and went 2 times its ok to come. Depending on weather we can go to a spot in Brooklyn or Long island

So if you want to really come just RSVP so i can hold a boat and get a date so we can make new thread

Yes the burst disc will give way if the air pressure raises above the disc's pressure rating.
If the regulator goes... however... I'd still be scared. There would still be a projectile.

Nah, you'd just have a free-flowing reg. You'd have to either knock the valve off completely or shoot a hole in the tank.

My thoughts are, a free-flow can be handled, and if I hit something hard enough to knock the valve off my tank, or have my tank shot at... I've got bigger problems than being rocket man!

I'm interested in going. I just got certified last summer, but never been out in the real waters (my open water dive was walking into the water from the beach... until about 30 ft deep and horrible visibility) and I heard once you go out like 20-30 miles out, its pretty clear.

Do you guys normally wear a wetsuit? I remember while it was warm on land, it shivering cold @ 30ft... I wore a 5mm wetsuit

Best vis I've seen in this area is about 30 feet. Normally it's around 15-20.

I'd advise on a 7mm wetsuit with boots, gloves and hood most times of year, or get certified in a drysuit.
