I was just curious what everyones opinion was on seeing F/S thread being bumped often. Especially when the asking price is extremely high, there is no interest, or the item is just not sellable. obviously we don't run the site but the Admin might be interested in hearing our opinion + votes.

I personally can't stand seeing ridiculous selling threads being bumped numerous times. Maybe have a bump limit? Perhaps remove the ability of a post to "bump" a thread to the top?

It's annoying if done too frequently. Once every 24 hours is ok by me but once every 24 seconds id really annoying.

What is really annoying is to travel miles to buy fish from members and you have to help the guy catch the damn things in a crowded reef tank and you just have to give up the catch now that's unconscionable... i just had to get that out.

What if your friends bump the thread? Whether you ask or not ... It happened with my F/S threads and someone seemed to have an issue with it and deleted all of my friend's posts ... the community was just trying to help ... I didn't ask for them to bump it.

I also agree it is annoying when someone bumps it repeatedly.
There should be a limit to the amount of bumps before you can't bump your own thread, and then only other users can bump your thread... at least in the F/S forum

Apparently there is a rule against this as well ... as stated in one of my F/S threads.

I didn't know there was a rule to this, because I'm pretty sure there are a lot of threads which would have violated it.

But I was thinking more along the lines of, after a certain number of bumps, you can still post to it, but those posts won't bump the thread. Not really a rule because rules can be broken, more like a site feature

Neither did I ... nor my friends ... it's an "unwritten" rule according to certain people ... I wish I had kept the RB's on that one ... it just made absolutely no sense what-so-ever. The community was helping someone out ... isn't that what this site is about ... ?

well if it helps any of you guys sleep better at night...i received a warning for bumping my friend's f/s thread.

"you MUST BE courteous", that's the unwritten rule, or "be put in time out"

helping out a fellow reefer, crime?!?

Annoying? How?The prices may be... just move to the next post easy what's so annoying about that?

For people who truely feel this way, then posting shouldn't bump threads at all in the F/S forum because your post will be reached from the user going to the next thread anyways. :irked:

The reason why I don't mind some bumps, but limited is just in case I missed it the first time around. After a few bumps, you reached majority of users and you're just crowding up the main page and bumping down the new threads which people may be interested in seeing.
