omg dude.... you should of never said *** to her about the cigg......

Please remind me never to permit this person into my store, my home, or the lives of anyone I hold dear to me. Ryan, that includes you. Ignore these moronic comments.

Young dude, you've got a lot of growing up to do.

Russ

PS - No joke about not ever coming to my place of business. You are not welcome.

bla bla bla... i wouldnt buy nothing from you anyway... i heard your a ripoff

Little boy, sit down. Russ and Jim are two of the nicest, most genuine people out there. I'd check your sources, because they will jump through hoops to make their customers happy (and I'm 100% positive other members will attest to that). I consider them both friends before I consider them a business. Go read a book about saltwater aquaria, and stop spreading ignorance.

Might want to pick up a book about grammar while you're at it.

Wow. It's hard for me to think that a little light from a cigg can cause all that. Sorry to hear that. At least noone was hurt... cause that can't be fixed. But your house can.

Please tell me thats your girlfriends face in the picture. I am freaked out by it.

Sorry to hear about it, thank god everyone is OK. It's hard to believe a cigarette started it but in any case the damage doesn't seem to be that bad considering. If you need a hand with repairs or cleaning up give me a shout I'd be happy to help you guys out.

Accidents happen but at least you got an awakening about quitting the cigs. People are right, this can be fixed that's why we have homeowners insurance but the bottom line is nobody got seriously hurt! Is it a set back? yes! but life is filled with them so you might as well chalk this one up to a learning experience. Sorry that happened and like I said Thank Goodness no body got hurt. Also, for you to Man Up to admit it was your cig that caused the fire, well that took balls!

I wish you all the best for a quick speedy recovery and for everything to be back better than new

Well today is day one. Honestly i have not even wanted to smoke all day because its just so depressing to think of it. I threw my pack out last night and kept the box for memories. So far so good

Thank you all for the concern. I do cherish the fact that no one was injured and very grateful for that, but the whole thing honestly should have never happened. Last night i got no sleep because i could not get it off my mind. My hands still today are black and all those clothing I took to my house had to be washed because it reeked of Sut. So that means every single outfit in the whole house is going to have to be washed. Blankets, beds, shoes. Jackets, shirts, pants, socks, everything. you can wipe a cloth anywhere in the house and black is picked up...its horrible.

Today is day one of repair. Fire marshals, the insurance people, an electrician, and a few others will be stopping by for questions and observations. Good thing is everything will be covered. From destroyed property to anything unwashable. The clean up crew should be coming shortly to start. They are doing a 100% clean up on the house. Washing the walls, cleaning the cloths, taking out everything that got burnt, ect. Then the insurance company should be starting hopefully soon tearing down the entire front of the house for a whole face lift.

My girlfriends parents are like family to me and they are not too upset over this incident. My girlfriend and i have been dating going on 6 years this year and they know accidents are accidents. All they said was if i wanted to continue living their, i have to quit smoking. That's fine, because I already stopped. I was very lucky. My future father in law tries to cheer me up when we are cleaning saying its ok because he wanted to change the front porch anyway and the windows that the firemen broke and ect. I try to laugh, but it just not time yet to. Once this is all said and done and i pull up home from work one day and see the house 100% complete and back to normal, that will be the relief day and i can take a breath...

I will be posting pics every day to show you the improvements if anyone cares. And that face in the window you guys are talking about...WTF?!? That is kinda creepy. I'm sure that picture will be framed and hung in the house...

Again thanks you all for the comments...

Well today was a pretty decent day. We got a lot done. The front of the house is cleaned up decent and inside is looking better. 5-6 giant air purfiers were put everywhere to eliminate the Sut and smell. They took all of our clothing and sheets to be washed and said maybe Monday-tuesdayish we may be able to move back in...

Your future in-laws sound like an amazing family. Very lucky you found them.

Definitely post pictures of the progress. I know I'd like to see it as it happens.

Glad things are beginning to work out.

Good luck man, sounds like you and the future in-laws all are reasonable and decent people. I wish you the best of luck, I am guilt ridden too over plenty of things so I can understand how you feel. You will get over it eventually and it will be something you will tell your kids to stop them from smoking "Kids, don't smoke, I almost burnt down grandma and grandpa's house from smoking." ;)

Glad everyone is ok. Things can be replaced, people can't and nobody got hurt which it the important thing.

Did the fire department call in a cause and origin team? Did they in fact have any cause and origin training? If the did call in a cause and origin team did they give you a final report or just a preliminary one? Are they sure the point of origin was in fact what you think it is? What exactly is the Point of origin? I am having trouble with some of the pictures figuring it out.

So tragic. Don't beat yourself up too much. As said already. It was an accident.
Keep your chin up and the cigs down.
P. S. I have been a smoker for 20+ years nad have turned around when I was on my way to work many times to make sure I put my cig. out.
This is a terrible fear of mine.

Crazy, I thought they made a change to the cigarettes to prevent something like this happening.

http://www.pennlive.com/midstate/index.ssf/2009/01/smoking.html

Anyways, The Important thing here is that everyone is ok.

They did make a change and put additives in the paper to make them self extinguish BUT if a butt is flicked onto dry material theres still a high risk of fire- they don't go out immediately they take on the average of 1-2 minutes. If there was a breeze, some dead leaves or other dry debris it landed in along with that breeze this can happen. Glad no one got hurt ryan but to all smokers, keep a butt can with water in it to put them out completely(large coffe cans work great and can be reused for a long time), that way these kind of things will happen far less often.

Yea Jonny they did make them burn out quicker I have no idea how the hell this could have happened seriously it had to catch something else on fire maybe a piece of paper or something then that blew next to the house? I duno man fires don't start like that especially outside on a windy day. It's very strange..maybe there is an arsonist on the loose lol

Actually trigger- these happen A LOT and are often the worst because they are wind driven. Quite a few of them turn out to be the fatal ones due to the wind spreading it so fast by the time we get to them its very far advanced. Luckily this one proved to be property damage only.
