How Often do you *CLEAN* your Skimmer Collection Cup

what skimmer will ? and i clean mine once a week but have to empty it twice a week, i clean the skimmer pump once a month and maybe once a year on the body

what depth is it running in ? and one thing i have found over the years if anything gets into one of the needle wheels it throws the skimmer off, cheato ect

I clean my cup maybe ever week or so, sometimes I slack. It seems that a clean cup does a better job. Now the skimmate... thats a whole other story. I ran a piece of 1/4" hose from my collection cup to a 5 gallon salt pail. I drilled a 1/4' hole and pushed the hose in tightly. The liquid from the cup just drains down into the pail. Because the fit of the hose is so tight, I get no smell from the pail, and I dont have to drain the cup so often. Now when I empty that pail of horror, it WILL make you gag.

lol I did the same thing with my skimmers, but the cup gets filled with so much of the gunk that doesn't drain, that I end up having to scrub them down once of twice a week.

Over time, the diameter of the RODI line constricts until the gunk stops flowing. I just give it a high-pressure washing by hooking it up to the sink using the fitting from the RODI and blow the nasty out of it.

The cup still drains, but the cup itself gets so filled with the gunk that remains. Thats a cool idea though, Using your rodi line as a high pressure cleaner

recently, my skimmer is doing an amazing job, its skimming very very dry and i have to clean it about 2-3 times a week. I have a SWC 160 Cone

My AquaC EV-120 gets a cup of almost black slime out every 5 days. I clean the collection cup well every week and then I clean the neck every few weeks. It helps the bubbles to flow...
