I wold not waste my time trying to whip something up in just a few minutes, this does nothing to help the client out, first you need to discuss what the customer is looking for and how it will be used.

I've been in this field of work for way to long to waste my time just throwing out a quick design without knowing what is wanted and needed.

well i did not like his logos so i fig.i would do some quick ones to help give him more ideas.and the quick ones do help customers decide what they like and dont like then u can take the feed back to do the final design .i have done graphics before 2

I believe he wanted ideas from a forum that understands what he is selling, i'm sure he wasn't thinking of just snatching up the one everyone likes most, but rather use that as a starting point for his logo.

I believe when a graphic designer works on a project he/she get his ideas from everywhere and everyone, incorporating this into his final design.

First a quick point. Dave I appreciate your comments and totally understand what your saying which I why I decided to get someone who does this for a living to work on our business logo. Zook has been doing a great job with the work he's done try to be different but at the same time looking for something catchy. This has been pretty much some options we have looked into and we thought it would be good to put this out there to get a feel of what you guys thought. Everyone that's has taking there time to post it's really appreciated and we value you input, but we do not want him to feel insulted or disrespected with feedback because everyone has there points and sometimes with lots of feedback we might be able to accomplish something we might not have accomplished
alone. My first mistake was maybe not posting that the person that was doing the logo for us was on Mr. I know everyone is being honest which is what we want but there are better ways to give input without making the comments insulting. He has been great with us spending lots if time with us listening to what we might be looking for. I truely believe that with MR's input and his good work we will be able to obtain the right logo to represent our company. Hope I have not offended anyone with my comments and please keep your input coming.

CMC and I have gone over the scope of the branding project including market competition, coloration, differentiation, and personality. We're just passing the first round so everyone's inputs is greatly appreciated.

It was my idea to post the marks here to see what everyone's thoughts are and the results so far show some interesting surprises. No hard feelings on my part; I'm confident in my work, which is why I've been asked to help design a logo for the certain capital city of a certain nation in the Caribbean (sorry, it's confidential, lol).

I am actually an artist. Let me know if you would like any help. I am sure I can come up with some creative stuff. I think there are some great concepts and nice designs, which were posted, that if tweaked would work great on a website, business card, etc...

On a side note, a good logo takes time and avoids the obvious solutions. FedEx took close to 4 years to create their logo; who here have ever notice the secret arrow in the FedEx logo?

sorry if i stepped on anyones feet. i just have to ask 1 question who actually came up with the first 5 choices honestly? cause none of them will work good on anything but a web banner. and also sure other companies will see their trademarks and really cause a mess. big companies hate when small guys like all of us use something they patened i know and went through it but i had a catch i signed everything. just a little heads up

also fedex also kicked them selves in the a$$ with their hidden secret of the arrow which was not on purpose cause if you look at the drivers side it's going backwards. they tried to fix it but couldnt. and the design firm that actually did it was ashamed cause newbie said they didnt know if they were coming or going (just a little deeper knowledge into logos). the most simple logos go along way years ago that is not the case nowadays. what stands out in one persons mind is tough economy, less time to look at what you want you need and edge.

for instance NIKE using helvetica as a font real original and a swish the swish was actually the presenter checking off on the prejector during the presintation on the transparency it was done with a visa-versa marker and the ceo at the time loved it and ran with it.

just a little extra knowledge on logos you can spend years with a customer or seconds its upto the induvidual.
as for looking foward into years of the logo that is nonsense look at IBM, APPLE, CHEVY, you can see where i am going it's all in the branding not looking into years ahead. its looking at the now and marketing it. LOGO RECOGNITION

sorry if i took the wind out of anyones sails but just being honest. i have over 12 years in the business and just was looking to help out 2 good friends. i know for a fact that if i actually sat down for an hour tops would have this done. call me cockey but i know my business and my job.

it's all good zook no need to feel angry, upset or annoyed. i actually got 3 jobs from a 5 minute layout from what others requested so it's all good. but back to phsyco 5 minutes 3 jobs maybe not a waste. i just like to help out friends and am sure they didnt know what i do. dom and saltwater critters do though
