Seems to be a lot more people logged in here lately! Is it you reef central folks who don't like waiting 5 minutes for a thread to come up, to post a reply?

I regularly browse and post on both boards, as do many others, I think. However, I've not noticed a difference in the time it takes to load pages between one and the next - except now I'm unable to see pics on this board, or even icons/links for them :?

I dont think you'll see pictures if your not loged in. Which would make sense if you did not have to be loged in to post. I have definetly been on this board ALOT more since RC is Sooooooo Slowwww Dont get me worng its a great board and I still check things out more so when I'm at work and have time for pages to load.

I like to visit Reef Central sometimes (although I'm primarily a RDO guy) but admit I have been going there less lately due to the slowness.

It's amazing how the cultures between boards are so distinct, though many browse both boards..........

I go to both. But I'm here a lot more. Mostly because of the speed difference.

I've offered my help with their problem, and a few moderators said they might contact me. I'm a webmaster/db admin for a large mortgage company and would be able to help them with their speed problems.

Has anyone else noticed more problems here since more folks are visiting? I've gotten a lot more "gateway timeouts," "critical database error" and "unable to contact server" errors in the past few weeks.

This normally happens when Rick is working on the database.

I can't say I have, Kevin, and you and I seemed to have similar problems connecting/posting on RC.

I absolutely love ReefCentral. They were the first guys to ever give me the time of day when I posted a thread -not knowing anyone there- asking if it was possible to work with micro tiny systems. This was a very tempting post in which to respond: "insert expletive here" but instead there was lots of ideas from people and Eric Borneman, Ron Shimek and Randy Holmes-Farley were always willing to answer posts with top of the line information. I was always -very- shocked to be able to speak to the people who were writing the books and respected articles. Eric Borneman is the sharpest guy around.

I see posting at multiple web sites like hanging out at a certain friends house--you can have lots of friends. I also have server probs there-- maybe theyll get it fixed soon. One thing I really like about -reefs.org- is they way your pics show up on the thread without using a remote url. I really really like that.

I hadnt met you guys until August of 02, wasnt big on internet post sites. I think both sites are equal in value, they just need to get that server back to 100%. For the longest time there was NO trouble uploading pics on RC.

I used to frequent RC more often than here. Server problems at RC prompted me to log into here more often. I have gotten to know a few of the people here and I won't be spending much time on RC from now on unless I am trying to sell or buy something.
