Hairy Mushrooms Must Go

If you want to kill hairy mushrooms its pretty easy. Turn off your water pumps. Drop about 10 to 15 pellets of Turbo Calcium on it. Within minutes it will look like crap. Turn your pumps back on once the pellets dissolved. Within hours the mushroom can be siphoned away. Any remains will regrow, but I find they have weaken enough and/or the have released the rock and can be removed.

100% kill rate so far on hairy mushrooms getting close to my acro's. Your more typical mushrooms its not as effective since its hard to get the TC pellets to stay on the mushrooms. I haven't played with dissolved concentrated turbo calcium yet -- perhaps as injections.

Boost calcium and kill shrooms in one shot.

I did one of the RC swaps on that thread above--I traded mushrooms with a guy from upstate NY (i'm in CA). The mushrooms were actually frags, so that's 1/4 of a mushroom in a film cannister, plus another cannister of LS just for kicks to diversify the sandbed. It cost $3.95 and took 2 days. Both the mushroom quarter that I sent and the one that I received are doing great!

I'm totally pleased with the experience and would be happy to do it again. I can afford to get stiffed occassionally if it's only $3.95.
