Let's start a new game.

Post what you are doing with your tank that may not be in the "norm" :shhh: or anything relating to your reef!

(1) I truly suck at keeping SPS. My death rate is pretty high and polyp extension is usually pretty low. #SPSKILLER!

(2) I am personally going to reduce my water changes from every 2 weeks to about every 3 then 4. Tank is at 16months and all parameters are still good at 2 weeks so I want to get away from touching or dealing with the tank a little more.

I am already on my 2nd month with no GFO or carbon just chaeto in an ARID reactor. I also decided to not do water changes for a few months and see if that helps my tank out. I use to run GFO and carbon and feel I was keeping the tank to clean and it was not letting me keep some sps. As of right now my tank is doing good and I keep about 90% sps and the rest lps

Xclusive - how is algae? On glass, no signs of cyano, etc? Chaeto alone for even with about 5 gallon bucket full couldn't keep my levels down enough so I put my reactors back online. Unless you have an overkill skimmer?

Cmantis - I only think of checking if I see corals reacting in a different manner or algae is on setting faster than the norm. Otherwise, I only do parameter checks probably once a month unless I got a bad reading and feel the need to double check my dosing regiments.

Do you guys not dose or run a ca reactor? My tank runs on the lower end for alk so I have to constantly change because of corals going into the tank.

I dont have any Cyano and I get about the same when it comes to the film on the glass I clean it about twice a week, as for my skimmer I am running a Royal exclusive vertex Alpha 170 with a vertex auto cleaner. I have a 120g tank so not sure if that over kill.

When i go to new stores that aren't vendors here I pretend to have zero experience and a tank that was just finished cycling.

I use a polyfilter in my ato.

I dont ramp my lights on or off, they're either some on, all on or off.

I do not do water changes.

I top off with water straight from the tap.

I just dump my powdered dosing chemicals into the pump chamber of the sump without mixing them.

I ask the nature spirits and devic kingdom to guide me in maintaining my aquariums.

Figured another one. I usually wait til last minute to change out my RO/DI filters. Hence, I always deal with cyano issues every X amount of time. Plus my TDS monitor got wet or something so I don't bother with 0 readings. I know by algae break outs when it's my RO/DI. time span for filters going out is usually a clear sign that it was my issue!
