My wife couldn't stand my tank, until one day she was right around the corner from a store I knew of and I asked her to get me some mysis, she got that AND a pink coco worm, I came home to it on top of my table acropora and she's like "I got something for you". Now it's ok
On a side note apparently coco worms don't need to be acclimated lol

Figured I would start a thread for those of us who are not as fortunate as others to have full support and understanding from our mates when it comes to the hobby.

So far I've heard :
"Keep it up!!! I'll pour bleach in that F-ing tank!!!"
"You can get the F out, you and that F-ing fish tank."
"What do you plan on doing with all this F-ing pipe and white crate all over the house? Get it out of my sight or I'm throwing it out!!!"
And my favorite....
"I'm tired of you and that F-ing fish tank!!!"

Yeah, she loves me.

+1
And she hates all the water spills.

How I figure till she puts bleach in or damages the tank is all good. Block it out

This is hilarious!! My gf hated my fish tank too. When i got my dog I had to say goodbye to my hobby. I might get one in december. Possibly a reaf-type set-up or semi-aquatic turtles.

if you do that then she gets half. That's half the money you would put in your tank, half of the house you would put the tank in, and now your alone with half a reef tank. I'll just resort to my "yes dear" mentality and let her think she's winning.

Well, than its just your fault for letting it get that far! :tongue1:

In these sorts of situations I like to say that it (activity or new "passion" under discussion) "is safer than fireworks and cheaper than alcohol", though that cheaper part may not apply to reef tanks tanks unless you are in the habit of always buying the rounds!

Schedule more time with your partner.

Good luck!

I think we have all been there to some degree my wife is usually ok with me working on tank if I give her the heads up I don't just start a wc while she is watching my son and trying to make diner u gotta pick ur times and ur battles I think the old saying its eaiser to ask forgiveness then permission doesn't really hold true in my house I always check with her first for big purchases
She has definitely chilled over the yrs but still calls me to ask me where I am and when I'll be home when I take a drive to get anything reef related

The stars aligned for me last night!!! I had a show to host and my top off was low and needed some ro/di. Asked my wife if she would run it since I couldn't and sure enough...I came home to 10 gallons of ro/di.
Think she is acclimating slowly but surely guys.
