OK well, if anyone remembers i was very anti r.o unit in my house for the longest time because of the responsibility level of one person and my sporadic schedule,
leaves way to much room for error.
After some peer pressure on here i finally caved and got one a couple months ago. after a couple of minor spills, yesterday someone (who will not be named but i'm sure you can guess) left the unit running from roughly 5...6pm to 10:30am this morning when i looked at him and said "i'm sure i dont have to ask u if u turned the ro unit off yesterday at some point". His frantic running answered the question. :dead1: needless to say i'm very upset.

Ok finally to my question, i noticed a musty moldy smell after the first spills he had and i sprayed the basement with like a 50/50 solution of water and bleach. With over 100g of water being spilled now i'm nervous with summer around the corner that i will have some bad mold problems. Is there anything else i can do or use to clean or spray down any dampened wood/areas??
I have seasonal asthma and my grandma is 92 with occasional breathing problems, i know mold can be very harmful.
Please, id very much appreciate any advice.

unfortunately the 20g brute tub he insists on using dosnt fit in the tub. i wanted to just use the 4.5 gallon jugs that i got from purchasing carib seawater (those could sit in the sink) but he said it was stupid that everyone uses brute garbage cans.

the dehumidifier works with the window open ??

+1 on the dehumidifier, i run mine cause my sump is in the basement.
you should get an auto shut off valve for ro unit, and put a float valve in your reservoir.
mine is set up like this and if it wasn't i would of had a few floods.

Tell Rob everyone who uses brutes also uses a shutoff valve, and some even put a leak shutoff to the RO.

I would use bleach wherever you can, also get some fans and direct to any areas that got wet, will help also.

Run the dehumidifier as mentioned above. I would say to get the auto shutoff for the RODO unit as well, but you will still need to watch it. I don't have one but my system of making RODI water is safe (at least I think so).
The RODI unit sits in the laundry sink along with a 4.5g Carib Sea water jug. I make up two of these. Then I put my 20g mixing tank on the floor and allow enough time to make approx 10 gallon of RODI. Once the tank is about half way filled, I dump in the other 2 jugs that I made up and I now have a 20g tank that was safely filled. I add salt & heater and then put away the RODI unit.
I've left the water jugs overflowing in the sink many times, but that doesn't do any harm, besides wasting water.
The auto shut off doesn't completed shutoff the unit. The wasteline will still be running, and I understand there will still me a constant drip from the other line.

So how did the ***** cat get all wet?

an easy and cost efficient way to rid yourself of the problem is a float switch. The dampness issue get a bunch of those damp rid containers. Place them at each corner of the affected basement and dump them out once a week. That should help!
