saw my first crosshatch trigger

A lfs is selling a cross hatch trigger which I have never seen in person. Pretty fish but it has one blind eye. The store also wanted 900 bucks for it. The fish was about 8in long and was in a 20 gallon tank. Anyone have one on the board?

They are beautiful, but they still are triggers! Thane had to get rid of his, when they started killing tank mates ! Heard the same thing from some people on other sites.

My 6 inch pink tail bullies my 10inch male crosshatch ..lol had him in my reef when he was smaller no issues with any fish

Man im not planning to get a crosshatch but was looking forward to adding a blue throat They are aggressive?

..should be okay but truly up to the individual fish.any of the Xanthichthys genus triggers (including the blue jaw) should be fine in a reef tank, assuming it's large enough (usually ~100 gallons minimum). The only real risk may be ornamental shrimp

50/50 depending on the fish...how attached are you to the cleaner shrimp..lol

I would LOVE a cross hatch but cant justify that kind of money on a fish. Now a few acros thats a different story

Yeah it was acting like a dog. It would come up to the surface when you put your finger up there and it would just stare at you when you got close. Cool fish

well arent you lucky, hope the honeymoon went well, anyway i work at a lfs, we had one in our 450 display and decided to eat half a horned shark and 3 lookdowns out of nowhere after living with them for over a year

IMO , CH triggers should be in a minimum of 150g or bigger

Yea mine is in a 400 now

I had them twice! They lived under a year both times.. They were In my 400 and swam constantly even at night trying to find a way out bad my tank had plenty of room.. They ate from my hand, never bothered fish or shrimp, ate like pigs.. I wouldn't do it again only because I have a problem w my tangs breaking corals from time to time, so w the triggers it's only worse!
