They are beautiful, but they still are triggers! Thane had to get rid of his, when they started killing tank mates ! Heard the same thing from some people on other sites.

Isnt that the truth. I love them but after owning quite a few of them it really is rolling the dice that you get one that plays nice....:spin: However, I love them so much that I have to recommend getting one but only with the proper environment and tank mates.. And by that I mean 400 and up. You rarely see males come in under 6". These guys are active and love to swim and it is a beauty to watch. As said before on other posts a little clumsy to say the least.

ive had 3 corsshatch triggers in my time and all three didnt make it. 1 died in transit broken bag and very sad. the replacement died within 2 weeks and the third died within the month. they were 2 males and 1 female. all were over 7 inches when bought direct from Hawaii. Im actually still looking for a male only crosshatch but i onlt want one if hes under 3-4 inches.
My take on these fish is that if your buying them at 6 inches or bigger, they may not survive or behave well since they are wild caught from the ocean. Another thing is take a fish that grew up in the wild and stick them in a tank no matter how large, (even a 1000 gallon tank is not an ocean) the fish get depressed and just wont survive. Now the problem, Its illegal to catch anything under 6 or 7 inches and sell them. So good luck finding them small.
But i know if you get them as babies they will do well in large tanks and if anyone can get their hands on a small male, ill buy it!

I have no idea if this is the 'law', but I'm pretty sure that there have been small males available... I'll look for his thread, I think a guy near me recently got 2 small males !

You can probably find some around... however it will usually be very rare to get them in under 6"... Plus they usually do not fair very well in higher temps. You usually want to keep them in a cooler tank around 70* as opposed to +76*

Are you sure about the temp skene? If so then it should be posted on every site that sells them.
