Yeah from my research the D120 is the best bang for the buck right now and the best combo of lights for full spectrum.

Also back to the OP. It could take several months too for your corals to fully acclimate once you get the dimming where they need to be.

I have the evergrow it2040 and love them..I made the switch from metal halides to LEDs and I thought the same as everyone else(that LEDs suck)until I gave it time for the corals to acclimate to the huge difference in lighting.this acclimation takes time ...roughly around a month or two depending on the corals.what I like the most about these ights are the fact that I don't need to hook them up to a controller due to the fact of the LCD display that I can change the intensity of the light from 1/2 to an hour increments and never have a need to touch it ever again,unlike the d120 dimmable that you have to manually change the intensity..I have the it 2040 over my mixed reef 34 solana for 6 months and ALL my corals are growing better and coloring up nicer than when I had metal halides.

Just got mine hung the right way. My trial run here (2nd day)with the older Chinese LEDs. So far, so good. Switched from t5s. No acclimation, everyone seems much happier...so far. Even with non-dimmable units, the colors pop pretty sick.

OP, I have a feeling that you are starting it with too low intensity. Try to find someone with a PAR meter to check the actual numbers. A very important factor in LED lighting is the application of lens. You need to know what degree they are coming in-for example, if you use the default lens in most AI, they are 40 degree and thus provide a very intense light with smaller coverage while if you use no lens at all(120 degree), the intensity will be so much lower. If you have no lens on and that the power is running only at 15% of your 120W, you will NEVER have enough light for a 30G. If have 60 degree lens on, I suggest to go 35% or even 40% to start and scale up.

Couldn't agree more with wingo!with the added optic lens's with basically the same concept as putting a magnifying glass under a light.im sure we all did this as kids...frying ants with the sun with a magnifying lens.same concept goes for corals that's why they bleach and die.

With an older unit as yours without a dimmer the fans will stay on all the time.mine barely come on and when they do you don't hear them(they are that quiet

These aren't too bad. Just some getting used to. This is just a test run for me (to see if I like the results I get from LEDs).
My bubble tip is actually bubbling up. Something they haven't done since I've had them. Zoas and palys that weren't opening, are opening.
My question is, with just the blues on, are the corals getting any usable light? These are the older Chinese units.

150 gal. but i got also 4 T5 ( 54 W ) 2 in front of IT 2080 and 2 in back , i run the T5 from 1PM to 8 PM rest LED, start 6 am 5% up to 40% the most, this lamps (LED) r very strong, i burn many frags by the time i got the right setting (that way i buy PAR meter).

I've had these for a long time. 10%? That isn't nearly enough light to be running at to make any sort of impression from.

Instead of buying direct from China, you can get these now from reefbreeders.com and oceanrevive.com with a 2 year US warranty. Still the best bang for the buck, but the models could use some updating. Maxspect and AI are catching up.

More channels. Better, smoother dimming to 0%. Better quality leds, smartphone control, Reef Angel/Apex compatibility. Reflectors.

Not one LED fixture on the market has all these yet. It's long overdue, and there is no reason it shouldn't exist by now.
