Angelo. I didnt have a top on my tank, when i added one it wasnt weighed down at all so i would consider that if you dont have one already. I saw kres tank one night pretty sharp looking and very healthy. That snowflake is huge!

I had a snow flake for a while in my fowlr tank it was about 2 feet long never attacked me sort of let me pet him sometimes. but he did like to rearrange the rocks and sand witch could be an issue in a reef tank and he also ate my 2 clowns and damsel. but he was cool as hell.

if it is small i wound be able to eat them but when it gets bigger you may run the risk of them getting eaten the snowflakes are infamous for eating clowns that was the main reason i got rid of mine before i went full reef.

If your that concerned, seems like a small tank in addition to fowlr is the way to go. I would think as long as the eel is well fed it won't bother anything else, but I'm no means an expert and as cool as they are. They creep me out a bit as they remind me of snakes, just cool looking

A few things to consider about eels.

Eels deliver a huge bio-load.

Eels add more to your tank's bio-load than most fish. Make sure that an existing tank is capable of maintaining the additional stress, and watch your parameters for the first month or two after you add the eel.

Eels will eat inverts.

Some people will tell you that they have an eel that doesn't, but if they get hungry, they will, and once they develop a taste for them, it's all over. I used to keep an eel in a reef, and I was replacing my cleanup crew monthly. It got expensive, but it was worth it for me.

Eels need places to hide.

Eels need plenty of places in the rock work to hide. If you don't have enough caves and crevices, get some PVC pipe and keep in in the tank behind the rock work so that the eel has a place to hide.

Eels will knock stuff over.

Not much more to say here. Make sure your frags are secure.

Eels will jump through very small holes.

If an eel gets stressed (or bored), they can and will jump through holes that appear smaller than they are. Make sure your tank has a secure cover with no crevices.

Eels require special care.

Eels need to be fed manually with tongs. Do not ever feed them by hand. Read up on your particular eel, but most should be fed about once a week. You don't want to overfeed, as it will shorten the life of the eel. Underfed eels will eat tank mates.

Eels are awesome.

Eels are one of the coolest aquatic pets you can have, but make sure you do your homework before running out and buying one. Putting an eel in the wrong tank can cause stress to the eel, stress to the tank and tons of stress to the owner.

Good luck!

Can I feed it what I use feed my other fish like brine shrimp?

Please do more research before you get an eel.

You really shouldn't even be feeding your fish brine shrimp. Eels will not eat them, and you need to manually feed eels. They have terrible eyesight, and you need to wave something like krill in front of them so that they can easily get it.
