should be fine...see how they react after the w/c today...LPS are easier to observe...if they look fuller than things are getting better. BTW I lost my CBB...most stuborn fish I ever had ...just wouldn't eat anything besides organisms off the rcokwork, aiptasia etc ...I'm surprised it lasted this long. My leopard, regal and purple queens were easier...LOL

No ph is about the same as it was. 7.8 to 8.0. what im also thinking is i held alot of corals for a friend after sandy. one by one his corals slowly STN as well then into my main tank. now his corals were healthy in his tank any way they got sick from stress and spread it to my corals? also whats the verdict on doing another big water change on sunday. or should i wait to do another one for a longer time say 5 to 7 days

my advice it to do a big wc like 25g, i think you already did. then stop and dont look at the tank for a month. dont change or touch anything.

the only times i have ever saved sps from stn, they were either big colonies i fragged, or I just left them alone and they pulled through..

I know its hard but just leave it alone. The nicest most over grown sps yank i know of is owned by a guy who hasnt touched it ion 4 years, cept to clean the glasss and a monthly wc.

Im already making up 1 more 25 gallon water change for tomorrow. i was talking to someone and he said i should have done a 50 percent then leave it for a week and do my usual water changes like normal. since i did a 25 percent i will do 1 more 25 percent. one frag that i cut up seems like it liked the water change. havent seen polyps on that guy for a month and today its polyps are out. either it helped or its false hope

So far 19 corals have been effected by this stn event. 5 of them died 2 are hanging on and dont look good the rest have small signs of stn but thats what the others looked like. Im fighting hard. I have done 2 25 gallon water changes in 2 days and i thought what has changed in the past 6 weeks that could have started this downward spiral. These are the things i came up with. About that time i started using kalk which i have now stopped. My algae cleaner handle broke and i was still using it and the other day i noticed rust was coming out of it so that is in the garbage. I was given a bad salinity calibration fluid from a online vendor that was of by .06 my salinity was at 1.019 i have since brought it back up to 1.o25. Also the air temps have gone down maybe my 300 watt heater coulnt keep up and was causing small temp swings so i added another 300 watt heater just in case. Also i brought in some friends corals from hurricane Sandy which alot of the corals STNed and died first so maybe they had something from the stress of the cold and effected my corals which i think is less likely then the other reasons. All these at once may have contributed or could have been just one of these things or possibly none of them i will never know. I am going to go about doing my usual routine of maintenence from now on and see how it goes from there. I will keep updating to keep the people who cared enough to give me there advise updated on this. Thanks everyone who tried helping

Sorry to hear about all The problems man! It sux when our tanks drive us crazy like this. This is one of the reasons i dont want to dive too much into the sps side of reefing. It just takes so much more work and then sh**t like this happens and you don't even know why. Good luck dude, i hope everything turns around for you and your tank can be as beautiful as it once was

Yeah im pretty much giving up at this point. The pearlberry i clipped around 2 weeks ago has started stning again, red planet still going and karls candlelight and hawkins still doing it. Im going to let everything thats dying die and if i have the energy maybe start over again. Cant figure it out and not wasting anymore of my time thinking about it. Going to do my regular maintenence to take care of my fish and probably wont be around for awhile. Going to stop thinking about my tank because its just getting me angry to where im a coral death away from putting a bat through the tank.

Alk in your tank changed. :eek:From what ? Salinity to low ? Or adding Kalk ?:eek1: So what caused this tank to stning. I did a little test in my small 13 gal frag tank and I added part one Alk to frag tank. I added 10ml. Tank never got added two parts ever. Next day stning on two frags. Next one gone skin total white. Faster I ever seem. So for first time 10ml to start out was to strong. I tested the Alk next day was 8.70 Alk in range. But what was before I added 10ml. 6.75 was Alk. I first started to add two part in my 90 gal . I started with adding 5 ml to a tank that was in low 7. Alk. And slowest raised it. This was to much in short period of time and smaller water volume. So changing Alk dkh/ ppm. More than 1 can cause Stning.

RTN or STN very weird think, even on Natural Water. I see on forum your tank before (i assume) Super,Super, lots of SPS, so "Alk. swing" may happen, when you introduce so many Corals in your tank, Coral consume carbonates ( Alkalinity ), Calcium, Magnesium etc. than you stress the Corals, dropping fast the Alk. than if you was using Zeostart 3, that stuff is very aggressive.
