controller strictly for heater

Hello, i want a tank controller ONLY to monitor my temperature and to shut off heater if it gets stuck ON. Everything else is already automated. Dont want to spend 500$ to turn off my heater only...any suggestions...thanks

That's a great price if you can find one..since they are so new.
The pricing is way better than the Ranco controllers we all used for so long!

Yea Kathy, those Rancos are built like tanks. I have one for a tank in the basement where temps drop drastically. Rock solid product, just the wiring was a little PITA.

confused, i am running a JBJ True Temp 800 watt titanium heater. I already have the controller for the heater but it does not shut off a heater that is stuck ON the ON position...basically dont want to boil my tank.

Ranco controller is your best bet.

Ranco controller, two weeks ago i started a thread asking if there was a device that would turn on my window A/C unit if my tank temp rose to high in the room and this was also recommended. So i understand correctly, this controller will turn my A/C unit on if my tank reaches certain high temps AND cut power to my heater if the tank temps rise due to a heater stuck ON. Is this correct?

I have the Finnex HC 810, it works for me.

The model described in the Reefbuilders is only 300W max-not powerful enough for the your 800W heater.

Finnex HC 810 is a WINNER! Thats exactly what i needed...thanks. Why did i waste money on a JBJ true temp? Wished it had this one major feature of auto power off if heat rises above a certain temp.

Be sure to realize that the finnex is accurate to +2 or -2 degree. That's pretty horrible. Ranco is the best bet all around or an apex or similar.

i didn't catch that major detail, my true temp is .5 I'll just order me the dual ranco and stop worrying, thanks for all input...

It's always nice to have the sensor being more accurate but the swing should be handled by the heater first. The extra controller is mostly for safety in case the heater got stuck(and to prevent my parrot from twisting the heater to the max which killed my 22" Black Aronwana years back.):irked:
