Well I put the second baffle as the bubble trap and it works well I have done this before and I may put a piece of sponge between the second and first baffles and that also stops bubbles , this is a much larger version Of a sump type I have made before and it worked great , as soon as I fire it up and it's running I will post pics of it running .

Great work! I'm trying to figure out a sump option for my 12 gallon Edge. I was going to get the eShopps nano overflow box so wouldn't have to drill the tank. I either have to get a new stand or I was gonna use a 6.6 gallon Fluval Chi as the sump since it would be the largest tank that would fit under my stand. Would that ratio even be beneficial? Another idea I had was to just have the Chi be a refugium macro tank and have the water from there return to the 12 gallon Edge.

Looks good. Question though. In my homemade sump, the return section only holds about 6 gallons of water. Looks like yours is about the same? That means that if the water volume in my system (About 100 gals total) decreases by 4%, the Eheim will be sucking air and if the volume decreases by 5-6%, it's a disaster unless I'm home to catch it. So I'm thinking of combining the refugium and return pump sections to reduce the margin of error.
