if you are transfering your old tank into the new, you wont really have a full cycle as you are using your existing water, sand, rock, etc. as long as you are keeping all those aspects of you biological filter, and not raising the bio-load, it will be able to continue to handle it just as it has before (worked with me).
Or you can just leave them in the old tank while you prepare the new tank and just transfer over when its ready. if it is going in the same location, you can do what i did. transfer everything into a garbage can (with water of course) and move the tank to a temporary location. then put everything back into the temporary tank till the new one is ready.

i got Super Actinic VHO bulbs (60"). There seems to be a side of the bulb that is lighter (more frosted?) than the other. should this side face the water or the reflector?

Well since I am going to upgrade to a 90, I will have a 35 gallon difference. Will those 35 gallons cause a mini cycle??

the 55 will work as it has before, and the other 35 will be even cleaner (sort of like a water change, but without taking out the old water)

Cool, I got that out the way! Next question: Currently I am using an AquaC remora w/mj1200 pump, obviously that wont worked on my 90g tank, which I plan on loading up with SPS. I was looking at some skimmers, nautilus, berlin skimmers. What do you guys suggest?
