Rift lake fishes are very dependant on high levels of oxygen. If you're not using a wet n dry or a bio wheel make sure you add an airstone.

I'd use a shallow sand bed...crushed coral or aragonite works very well.

I have a sump. Wouldn't that provide a lot of oxygen just from the water falling into the sump? Or should I add another filter? I like a clean look with no equipment showing. so If I have to add I'd rather do it in the sump.

Tank so far. Needs more rock work but that's coming. Can't find the rocks I really like except maybe lace rock. Not sure I like just rounded river rocks.
