No, fresh water dips or baths don't remove ich from a fish body or even kills the ich. Ich can live a very long time in fresh water, even up to 24 hours, but Hyposality is different than a fresh water dip or bath. You're still not killing the ich by lowering the SG but by keeping it low it causes the spores to not hatch once they fall off the fish. They then die/rupture and don't become free floating and reinfect the fish again, which starts the cycle all over again. Hypo basically breaks the cycle but it does take sometime, 4 - 6 weeks as Dom posted.
