pecan i get pylie's for $35 when they come in and that fish i do believe came from a local supplier, seen it on the list of fish, my lfs doesnt pay more then for wrasse's and pass's the deal onto me, he dont care what it is called or names, only what it cost him, marvin the 2 week guarentee is worth the extra price, i went through 5 to get 3

very nice wrasse. i thought they were called royal flasher wrasse or lyretail flasher wrasse. either way georgious fish. i myself just picked up a Male Paracheilinus McCoskeri and a male paracheilinus angulatus x from a friend of mine who spent alot on money on them. they are doing great. kind of upset because there colors are not as amazing as pictures in books but still you could tell its one of them. i love the pink dots in its bottom fin. my McCoskeri has more red, i wish it was pink like yours. good luck with it!

well, I let him go last night after the 1st snack... I normally thaw their food and feed them increments... tonight there was 3 increments... nobody seemed to care much about him when he was in the box, think again... :(

at first, the McKosker's messed with him but he held his ground pretty well... then, I got a surprised... the Hooded started chasing everyone and focused his attention on the Attenuatus for a quick second... I didn't expect this at all... the Hooded normally messes with the female turned male HI Flame every so often... I turned off the lights and left the PowerBrites for a few minutes to diffuse the aggression... the Attenuatus started peeking out again and when the McKosker's got close, he started flashing them, both the smaller one and the larger one... I think he'll dominate both McKosker's if he can somehow get on the good side of the Hooded... lights are all off now and I'll manually turn them on tomorrow for more observation... wish me luck... man, it was awesome sight seeing the Attenuatus flash, even with just the PowerBrites on... :)

Sounds dramatic and pretty normal. Good luck.
yeah... it's pretty normal for these guys to not have a warm welcome to the newcomer... I don't really mind if the Attenuatus becomes the dominant flasher though... just kinda worried that the Hooded will keep messing with him... we'll see tonight... the Attenuatus was only chased by the Hooded a few times... I didn't wanna risk anything so I turned off the main lights right away... left the PowerBrites for another 5 mins and then lights off... hope the Attenuatus have a good night's rest (like 18 hrs... LoLz)...

ive always ended up puling the fish that was in the tank before out for a day or two to let the new one settle in before i put the more dominant one back in, one of my pylies i had use to do that to any new wrasse and would get a sump time out for a couple days then he didnt cause any problems

yeah, Pylei's are known to be very aggressive though they are on the smaller size... I've had 3-4 Hooded in the past and they have been pretty laid back... you never know really with fishes... the Hooded didn't pay any attention to the Attenuatus at all while in the box... maybe the Attenuatus hit a angry button on the Hooded... LoLz... I'll see tonight how they do... :)

what a beautiful fish!
Thank you... :)

I have been considering a harem of flame wrasses in my new tank, with a pair (or more) of hooded wr....you feel that they might be fine? BTW, congrats, Attenuatus looks great!

.
how big is the tank? I would go with the harem of HI Flames and just a male Hooded... I would also start with 4+ more females with different sizes and have one evolve to a male... males are more fragile than the females for some reason...
